GENERAL COUNSEL, SECRETARY & CHIEF COMPLIANCE OFFICER
Joel Unruch serves as deputy general counsel and corporate secretary at Accenture, where he oversees the corporate governance activities of Accenture plc, including the company’s board of directors and its committees as well as filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. He provides legal oversight for global equity and executive compensation matters and Treasury. Joel also leads Ventures & Acquisitions for Legal, where he is responsible for global acquisitions, dispositions and strategic minority investments. Additionally, he oversees the legal organization’s Alliances & Ecosystems practice and the Global Legal Network—a team that delivers a comprehensive suite of legal services to Accenture clients around the world. He is a member of Accenture’s Global Leadership Council and the Legal Executive Leadership Team.
Before joining Accenture in May 2011, Joel was corporate counsel at Amazon.com and previously worked in the Corporate department of the law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, focusing primarily on mergers and acquisitions transactions as well as corporate securities.
Joel holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, a Bachelor of Common Law degree and a Bachelor of Civil Law degree from McGill University and a Master of Laws degree from Harvard Law School.
*On June 3, 2019, Accenture announced that Joel Unruch will become general counsel, secretary and chief compliance officer, succeeding Chad Jerdee, who will step into a new role as global head—responsible business, corporate sustainability and citizenship. These changes are effective September 1, 2019.
