Brett Grobbelaar leads Accenture’s Resources Operating Group in Sub-Saharan Africa. His focus is on helping mining, energy and utilities companies to digitalise, automate, streamline and transform their operations and organisations to meet the demands of a tough local and global economic climate, which includes falling commodity prices, ongoing labour pressures, political and regulatory uncertainty, and a rapidly transforming energy landscape. With 21 years’ consulting experience, 15 of them spent in the Resources sector working with clients such as Anglo Gold Ashanti, Eskom, Glencore, Sasol and Anglo American, Brett has the deep industry insight, knowhow and vision to help Resources companies navigate complex challenges and meet strategic and transformation objectives.
Brett is recognised for his ability to engage with clients at all levels, and to develop and deliver multidimensional and transformational solutions. He believes that strong, diverse and highly collaborative teams are essential to address the complex challenges facing resources companies. He has been instrumental in reshaping Accenture’s Resources team, recruiting fresh talent from sectors as diverse as strategy, digital, actuarial and legal, and introducing and driving the new thinking needed to help clients adopt new business models and exploit emerging opportunities, and leverage digital solutions such as IoT, smart metering, automation and effective analytics to improve agility and efficiencies.
Brett holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He enjoys staying fit and active and is a keen runner. He is strongly family-oriented and is thoroughly entranced by his two tween daughters.
