Purpose of the Job:

Provide ongoing technical support and maintenance of production and development systems and software products (both remote and onsite) and for configured services running on various platforms (operating within a defined operating model and processes). Provide hardware/software support and implement technology at the operating system-level across all server and network areas, and for particular software solutions/vendors/brands. Work includes L1 and L2/ basic and intermediate level troubleshooting

Overall

¨     Plan and implement medium to high risk changes on production systems

¨     May participate in:

¨     Planning and designing new platforms and integrating new technologies into existing infrastructure

¨     Evaluating new technologies and new releases

¨     Conducting cost analysis of newly designed platforms and technologies Focus on Accenture and industry standards, policies and best practices

¨     Analyze and assess the impact and risk of low to medium risk changes on production systems

¨     Resolve Level1/2 incidents affecting the operation/availability of production systems, through troubleshooting and implementing known fixes

¨     Conduct trend analysis with a focus on proactive identification of events/issues that threaten performance and a consistent & timely resolution and documentation

¨     Deploy standard repeatable build outs

¨     Install, configure, patch and maintain appropriate technologies (e.g. servers/databases/network/ storage/software solutions)

¨     Manage and support backup strategies

¨     Analyze system performance indicators and recommend improvement actions

¨     Monitor vendors' release notes and plan necessary upgrades and patches as required

¨     Assist disaster recovery tests

¨     Create and review technical system recovery plans

¨     Review the problem management register and identify and implement actions

¨     Assess/install/maintain third-party tools

¨     Make proactive suggestions for service improvements

¨     Demonstrate commitment to Service Excellence

¨     Coach less experienced staff in the supported products and best practice for production support

¨     At more senior levels, perform major upgrades of systems and associated products/software solutions

¨     At more senior levels, act as technical lead for one or more client services

 

General Tasks

¨     Review and escalate weekly network attacks;

¨     Monthly backup reports;

¨     DNS Checks;

¨     Monitor Full Weekly Backup Jobs;

¨     Review Antivirus Outbreak report;

¨     Review Event Log Analyser Report;

¨     Compile Software Updates Report;

¨     Disk Clean-up;

¨     Archive files ;

¨     Inspect active Directory Users and Computers on domain controller;

¨     Review hardware Logs for failed events;

¨     Monthly web application utilization review;

¨     Report weekly formal status to the relevant supervisor /team lead;

¨     Report informal status regularly;

¨     Engage in formal or informal knowledge transfer to/from other project members.

KNOWLEDGE AND ATTRIBUTES / SKILLS:

Primary Role Requirement:

¨     A sound technical background and ability in the Administration of technical environment;

¨     Capacity planning;

¨     Pro-active identification of problem areas;

¨     Problem solving and debugging as well as dump reading;

¨     Quality Assurance and preventative management initiatives;

¨     Knowledge of information system development including implementation, integration

of on-line systems and networks;

¨     Knowledge of TCP/IP, WINS, DNS, and DHCP protocols;

¨     Knowledge with network devices, firewalls and routers, etc.

 

The following will be considered as an advantage for this position:

¨     Knowledge of Virtualized environments with emphasis on VMware.

¨     Knowledge of  Microsoft Server 2008 R2 / 2012 administration

Education, Qualifications, Experience Necessary:

¨     Matric and relevant 3 year tertiary qualification;

¨     Minimum 2 years working experience in System Administration/Server Administration. 

¨     NIA security clearance will be conducted on successful candidate is compulsory

Prior LOGIS functional and technical knowledge will be beneficial
