Technology Consulting Senior Manager (Application Modernisation & Advisory)
Advise upon, lead and work on high impact activities within the systems development lifecycle, and provide advisory work for the IT function itself


Key Responsibilities
        Technology Consulting Accountabilities
  • Decompose key business problems to identify value areas and structure and implement complex technology solutions for the client
  • Create innovative and differentiated offerings, staying relevant and in sync with market demand
  • Deliver advisory services in support of technology enabled business change, e.g.: package & third party integrator selection, vendor selection, application studies, solution architecture studies and/or program diagnostics and recovery.
  • Deliver advisory services to the IT function: CIO/CTO/CDO
  • Grow market share by leveraging relationships, winning work, and being integral to delivery of on-shore consulting engagements
  • Sell on an individual basis or as a part of a team

Complexity

Skills Requirement:
Senior Manager with experience is application modernization and advisory.  Must have experience in application modernization – i.e. utilizing an incremental approach to replace out outdated COBOL, PL/1 NATURAL with modern code such .NET and Java.   Must be able to advise clients on how to modernize applications and their related benefits.   Must be able to work with clients to advise on ROI from replacing old with new and must be able to help clients create roadmaps to achieve this incremental process. 
Must be able to work with clients to:
  • Provide an accurate understanding of legacy systems and to develop the business cases around renewing existing applications.
  • Extract business requirements from software applications and recast them in natural or formal language for further analysis or forward engineering.
  • Advise on how to move applications to newer, less expensive and more efficient technology platforms (including cloud).
  • Migrate to a standards-based environment while minimizing disruption to the business.

 

Experience & Qualifications Requires:
  • Understanding of technologies – e.g. Natural/Adabas, COBOL/CICS/DB2, iMS DB/DC, Client Server Technologies etc.
  • Understanding of platforms –  IBM Mainframe, AS400, AIX, Solaris etc.
  • Assessing as-is architectures and developing target state architectures
  • Producing business cases
  • Identifying modernization opportunities and prioritization
  • Industry trends, best practices, and reference architectures
  • Understanding of partner solutions
  • Must be able to engage with C-Suite Executives
  • Understanding of the Health and Public Sector
  • Professional bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related degree
  • 10+ years of Technology experience in Public Services
