Accenture helped a leading global eyewear company implement an integrated planning solution, enabling improved budgeting and reporting.

Accenture has worked with a leading global eyewear company to implement an integrated planning and reporting system based on Oracle Hyperion technology.

The implemented application allows the client to execute budgeting and reporting processes with increased detail through the corporate profit and loss, product profitability and cost center accounting modules. This Oracle-based solution has resulted in significant reductions in planning and reporting times and budgeted expenses.

Opportunity

A global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of fashion, luxury, sport and performance eyewear had a disconnected systems structure—mainly based on Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for more than 40 global entities.

This systems structure was providing challenges for the company’s corporate controllers, and its planning processes were inefficient and ineffective.

The company selected Accenture to provide a solution that would deliver actual standardization, control and variance analysis.

Solution

Accenture helped develop and implement a global planning solution aimed at standardizing the budget submission processes from the company’s market and corporate entities.

After thoroughly considering the client’s specific requirements, the team devised a solution using Oracle’s Hyperion performance management software and its database management system. The Hyperion system helps manage budgeting, planning, financial management and performance scorecards.

Accenture assisted with control model and data model definition, corporate profit and loss planning and implementation, user training and integration layer and cost center accounting planning implementation. Each phase of the project followed Accenture Delivery Methods steps.

Results

The integrated planning and reporting system that the team implemented has provided the client with a new control model. This system offers the company the ability to execute budgeting and reporting processes with increased detail through corporate profit and loss, product profitability and cost center accounting modules. By leveraging this application, the client can control its budget more efficiently.

This Oracle-based solution delivered significant reductions in planning and reporting times and budgeted expenses.
