ALIP University – Business Configuration

Gain a broad overview of all the components associated with business configuration within the Accenture Life Insurance & Annuity Platform (ALIP).

About the course

This course is not product- or company-specific, but instead concentrates on the business configuration framework.

Topic 1 - Overview to ALIP Business Configuration

  • This introductory course is intended to provide a broad overview as well as a brief description of the role of a Business Configurator.
  • Subjects: Introduction to configuration, process of configuration, components of configuration, roles and responsibilities.

Topic 2 - Schema management

  • This second topic covers the essential functionality within ALIP Schema Management for a Business Configurator and will include enough training in XML (Extensible Markup Language) to complete the tasks.
  • Subjects: Overview of Schema Management, overview of XML, relating XML to Schema Management, managing tag paths, tag nodes and tag type codes.

Topic 3 - Page groups

  • This third topic is designed to empower the user with the skills to perform the primary tasks associated with page groups within the platform.
  • Subjects: Introduction to Page group configuration, the page group management tool, how to configure pages in ALIP, Q&A, conditions, columns, repeating blocks, testing.

Topic 4 - Rule groups

  • This fourth topic is designed to empower the user with the skills to perform the primary tasks associated with rule groups within the platform.
  • Subjects: Introduction to rules, rule group management, creating rule groups/rules, attaching rule groups, testing/debugging rules, other rules usage.

Topic 5 - Lookup tables

  • This fifth topic is designed to empower the user with the skills to perform the primary tasks associated with lookup tables within the platform.
  • Subjects: Introduction to lookup tables, lookup table management.

Topic 6 - Workflow

  • This sixth topic is designed to empower the user with the skills to perform the primary tasks associated with the workflow within the platform.
  • Subjects: Introduction to workflows in ALIP, the workflow tool, workflow components.

Topic 7 - Miscellaneous topics

  • This seventh topic will cover a set of miscellaneous topics that are part of business configuration but are not necessarily essential for completing basic configuration tasks.
  • Subjects: Tab groups, page group views, forms (forms in ALIP, forms management), common administrative functionality (permissions, users).

  • A classroom setting limited to 12 participants.
  • A PowerPoint is used for training with 8-10 subjects per topic.
  • Each subject includes: An introduction, interactive instruction, hands-on activities, conclusion, instructor checkpoint, final test.
  • Training lasts six hours per day plus extra time for breaks/lunch.
  • Course duration is four days.

Intended audience, cost and logistics

Intended audience

This course is targeted towards resources that are looking to gain an understanding of what business configuration is, the business configuration components of ALIP and what areas within ALIP are configurable. Because business configuration covers such a broad range of ALIP, this course is useful for all resources responsible for implementation (Business Analysts and Business Configurators) as well as those looking for a technical understanding (Developers and Architects, Testers and Leadership).

Participants need not have an in-depth knowledge of products or even the company business.

  • Training is customized to each customer’s needs. We will discuss your cost structure with you once you’ve initiated your registration process through the registration form.
  • Each course is limited to 12 participants to ensure quality and individual attention. A minimum of four participants is required.
  • The course cannot be audited by customer’s management.
  • Note: Participants are required to bring their own laptop.
