Insight and Learning
Having the right skills to open doors to meaningful, lasting employment or business ownership is critical. We launched Skills to Succeed in 2009 to address this need and to advance employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in markets around the world. By mobilizing our people, partners, clients and others, we strive to make a measurable and sustainable difference in the economic vitality and resilience of individuals, families and communities.
Together with our network of strategic partners, we plan to equip over 3 million people with the skills to get a job or build a business by the end of fiscal 2020. As a part of this, we will increase our focus on the successful transition of individuals from skill-building programs to sustainable jobs and businesses, and bring together more organizations across sectors to create large-scale, lasting solutions aimed at closing global unemployment gaps. To attain these goals and maximize the collective impact of our programs, we need to make the sharing of insights a core component of our global network of skilling practitioners. We seek to actively learn from one other (as a "learning practitioner network") and build an evidence base of solutions that work to drive outcomes at scale. Our goal for this S2S learning practitioner network Insights & Learning site is to be an enabler for this collective learning process—to help us learn, connect, and innovate together.
The Skills to Succeed Insight and Learning Agenda communicates the insights we seek as we build the actionable evidence base of what's working and what's not to take demand-led skilling to employment and entrepreneurship outcomes to scale. In this process, we are aiming to address key topics that represent gaps in our collective understanding. We have defined a set of learning questions to guide our research on these topics. We will build out deeper evidence based on key evaluation criteria: relevance, differentiation and potential for impact. These are:
What skills will be required to transition jobseekers and entrepreneurs (particularly from disadvantaged backgrounds) to experience sustained Skills to Succeed outcomes at scale in the 21st century?
How can we design training and other workforce enablement programs to build needed skills and competencies, and then support transitions from skilling through to sustained employment and entrepreneurship outcomes at scale?
How can we scale and then sustain large programs over time to maximize Skills to Succeed impacts?
How can we measure and track outcomes in a way that improves performance?
Our expectation is that the insights we gain by addressing these research questions will be leveraged by current projects and will inform future investment decisions, with the objective of deepening and accelerating Skills to Succeed's impact on creating meaningful, lasting employment or sustainable business ownership for disadvantaged populations.
Insight to Action: Paving the Pathways to Employment
We are pleased to share with you the Skills to Succeed Insight to Action: Paving the Pathways to Employment report. Based on in-depth interviews with over 75 practitioners and subject-matter experts, an online survey of over 30 subject-matter experts and an extensive literature review, the research highlights new imperatives for workforce development practitioners, key success factors needed to drive positive outcomes and a tool that can help practitioners to assess their current capabilities to support continuous improvement and innovation. We hope these insights help organizations achieve sustainable employment outcomes for their clients and communities.

One of the ways of building an actionable evidence base of ‘what’s working and what’s not’ in driving demand-led skilling to employment and entrepreneurship outcomes at scale, is through our insight bytes. After harnessing the considerable amount of publicly available information, as well as experience and practices of our Skills to Succeed network and beyond, this content has been synthetized into actionable insights that our practitioners can adopt to improve performance for jobseekers and entrepreneurs. The insight bytes encompass practical and relevant tools, guidance and techniques in accordance to our key Insight and Learning topics. Insights harnessed from relevant events and conferences are also featured.
In January 2016, Accenture held an interactive Insight to Action virtual event attended by more than 120 workforce development professionals from the Skills to Succeed practitioner network. In this session, we shared the recently released 2015 Baseline Report published by the Solutions for Youth Employment (S4YE) Coalition, and, building on the report findings, we explored ideas for addressing youth unemployment.

On the 23rd of July 2015, Accenture held an interactive Insight to Action virtual event with over 200 skilling professionals from the Skills to Succeed practitioner network.
