Footnotes
1 Some detail numbers may not sum exactly to total number due to rounding.
2 Net revenues excludes reimbursements (for example, travel and out-of-pocket expenses and third-party costs, such as the cost of hardware and software resales).
3 Accenture Foundations refers to independent charitable organizations that bear the Accenture name.
4 "Accenture-sponsored 'Time & Skills' Programs" comprise Accenture Development Partnerships, pro bono consulting and paid volunteering projects.
5 Detailed methodology for carbon emissions and energy usage calculations is available in Accenture's CDP Climate Change response; 100 % of Accenture's fiscal 2016 Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, as well as a small subset of Scope 3 emissions received a positive statement for a limited assurance review by an independent third party.
6 Since fiscal 2013, improved data on leased cars allows us to segregate some Scope 1 emissions from the Scope 3 car emissions where they had been classified previously. Starting in fiscal 2014, we classified Natural Gas usage as Scope 2 emissions from the Scope 1 emissions where they had been classified previously.
7 CO2 emissions related to Scope 2 Office Electricity reflect a market-based accounting approach as defined by the updated GHG Protocol Scope 2 guidance. In line with the guidance, fiscal 2016 office electricity market-based emissions factor renewable electricity impacts as well as 3,829 tons of residual non-renewable emissions in Europe. Also in line with the guidance, we report CO2 emissions using a location-based approach which for fiscal 2016 would be 309,631 tons for Office electricity and 313,141 tons for Scope 2 (fiscal 2015 values are 290,634 tons and 294,920 respectively).
Electronic waste includes laptops and workstations with disposal method tracked in Accenture's global asset management system.
Fiscal 2016 total water consumption is derived from more than 60% measured data (55% in fiscal 2015) and estimating the remainder based on average per-workstation consumption from measured locations.
10 Does not include information from Avanade, a joint venture between Accenture and Microsoft that is majority-owned by Accenture.
11 All "Women Executives" values reflect our workforce as of December 31 of that year as well as values for "Women in Workforce" and "Women New Hires" since 2015 (values prior to 2015 reflect our workforce as of August 31). "Women Executives" comprises our women managers, senior managers, managing directors, senior managing directors and members of our Global Management Committee.
12 “Other Type Business” consists of the following subcategories: Service-Disabled Veteran, Veteran, Historically Black Colleges or Universities, and Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender+.
