Joe Chenelle is the Columbus Office Managing Director and the Client Account Lead for the State of Ohio in Accenture’s State, Provincial Local Government Service Group. In these roles, he is dedicated to bringing the best of Accenture to help Ohio executives combine innovation, technology, and insights into leading practices from the public and private sectors to create high-performing organizations that deliver exceptional outcomes for their customers.
Joe brings 27 years of systems integration and consulting expertise, with 22 years focused on global, complex system implementations. Before returning to his home state in 2015, Joe spent 14 years with Accenture Federal Services (AFS) in Washington, DC. In his last role with AFS, Joe had the privilege of serving as the US Defense & Intelligence Lead backing clients such as the US Army, Navy, Air Force, Veterans Administration, the Defense Logistics Agency and more than 20 others. Joe also served as an executive team member in the highly successful ASM Research acquisition, named the Best Healthcare Deal in 2013, and was a key leader in shaping the 2015 integration of Agilex, an 800-person organization known for its digital capabilities and agile approaches. He actively advocates for our nation’s veterans and continuing Education. Joe serves on the Board of Run Down the Demons, a local 501(c)3 focused on addressing US veteran mental health challenges and the Columbus State Community College Foundation.
Prior to leading the AFS Defense business, Joe served as the chief technology architect and later the Client Account Lead for the Defense Logistics Agency. Joe worked side-by-side with his Federal colleagues and DLA Executive Management beginning with Business Systems Modernization (BSM) Release 1 through Full Operating Capability. BSM was the first successfully deployed ERP in DoD and was recognized by the Secretary of Defense as the most successful supply chain transformation ever undertaken by the Department; reducing logistics response time to supply our troops by 30% without interruption to the mission that included two OCONUS ground wars. DLA sources and provides nearly all of the consumable items America’s military forces need to operate – from food, fuel and energy to medical supplies, uniforms, construction material and spare parts.
Joe has also lived and worked in Europe where he helped develop Accenture’s Technology Delivery Practice within our European Solution Center Network. Joe has worked with some of the world's largest public and commercial organizations, sharing insights and experiences with clients in the Retail, Communications, Chemicals, Energy and High Tech and Public sectors.
Joe received a BS from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH with dual majors in Management Information Decisions Systems and Finance. Originally from rural Northeast Ohio, Joe now lives in Columbus with his wife and their two children.
