Accenture is not just talk when it comes to wanting each of us to have a guiltless work life balance. This has allowed me to continue my passions in competitive swimming and prepare for the upcoming 2016 Olympic Trials.

What I Do

After serving 5 fulfilling years as a Marine, I immediately began work with Accenture as a project manager. It has been one year so far where I have been supporting projects centered on information security. These can range from OS and server upgrades or retirements, applications, digital credentials and signing services, identity and access management, and assessing security baselines. Concurrently and as part of the PMO, we analyze existing management processes or lack thereof, and improve or create a more efficient product.

Day in my Life

Throughout the week I am interacting with the team members of my projects. I work mostly virtually due to the fact that my own team and the projects I support are scattered across various offices. This can be challenging when working with those in different time zones, but that is one of the reasons that makes the job interesting. Discussions are held to provide periodic project updates, plan, create new management processes or products, troubleshoot, identify problems, and find solutions.

Outside the Office

I am very grateful to have found Accenture and seeing how they truly support a healthy work life balance. With my time respected, I find that I am more motivated and productive when I am on the clock.

Passionate about health and fitness, I am also a certified Personal Trainer and U.S. Masters Swimming Coach. Outside of work, I volunteer my time coaching athletes and people of all ages. Personally, I have qualified for my second Olympic Trials in swimming back in December. I am now preparing for this coming summer trials by training in the evenings after work and some mornings. I also enjoy riding motorcycles, shooting guns and the outdoors.

My Advice

Really be true to yourself when it comes to pursuing your career and also where you might fit in. Don’t be afraid to show your unique personality; it can add value to your company and those around you.
