“My favorite part of my job is teaching. Whether actually leading a training class for users or imparting knowledge to a colleague, there are always opportunities to educate others.”

What I Do

I joined Accenture in 2012 after graduating with degrees in Biology and Chemistry from Virginia Tech. I joined the ILMS team at Department of State in October 2012 as a member of the Asset Management team. I worked on the Vehicle Allocation Methodology (VAM) Justification, FMIS, and the Department’s Fleet Management Plan. In April 2013, I transitioned to the Procurement team for the Ariba Upgrade where discovering my passion for supply chain management and Ariba.

Currently, I lead the technical aspect of all grant initiatives for my clients at Accenture Federal Services, which includes a grants management system for domestic and overseas federal financial assistance. This role has taken me around the world to Brasilia, Mexico City, and Antananarivo.

Day in my Life

I love working for Accenture because no two days are ever the same. There are always different clients to meet with, user questions to answer, new ideas to explore, and many exciting opportunities to learn and grow.

My work follows the plan, analyze, design, build, test, and deploy Accenture Delivery Method. Depending on where my team is in the lifecycle, we may be interacting with users around the globe, gathering requirement, designing innovative solutions using the latest technology to meet client needs, or testing and resolving system issues with developers.

My favorite part of my job is teaching. Whether actually leading a training class for users or imparting knowledge to a colleague, there are always opportunities to educate others. As a team lead, growing others and building a strong team is one of my most important responsibilities. It’s also one of the most rewarding aspects of my day to day job.

Outside the Office

Outside of the office, I love to stay active and busy. I play soccer on a few different teams 2-3 nights a week and love to go biking on the weekends. I also have the best volunteer job ever - I am a volunteer mounted patrol for the Manassas National Battlefield Park. This means I get to spend my free time taking care of the park police horses and riding around the battlefield helping out wherever needed.

When it’s too cold to go outside, I enjoy working on puzzles and playing board games. I am undefeated in Catan.

My Advice

Be open to new opportunities and put 100% in to whatever you are doing. If people see that you are willing to work hard and be a team player, they will help you accomplish your goals and find success.
