What I Do

I am currently the Managing Director of Accenture’s North America Sustainability Services practice, through which we advise the world’s leading companies and policy makers on sustainability strategy, solutions and innovation. We help organizations put resilience and sustainability at the heart of their strategies, policies and activities, and--using Accenture’s comprehensive capabilities in technology, consulting and outsourcing--we deliver practical, proven, end-to-end sustainability services, from market analysis and strategy development to implementing and managing a sustainability solution.

My team focuses on a wide range of strategic services across sustainability – including valuation and performance management, ethical and inclusive supply chains, intelligent cities strategy, efficient and alternative energy solutions, innovative business models and partnerships, green technology and analytics, and circular economy. Our clients include Fortune 500 companies, SMEs, governments and non-profit organizations.

Before I took this role, I was a member of the global leadership team of Accenture Development Partnerships, where I established our Africa practice and led Global Partnerships, Investments and Innovations. In that role, I managed the creation, scale and replication of ADP’s most complex engagements, as well as its investments in high-potential solutions. My clients included Fortune 500 companies, multi and bilateral donors, private foundations and international NGOs.

Day in my Life

Most of my days are split between client-facing and internal activities. Overall, I try to spend as much time as possible in front of clients, as they are the reason we’re here! Most of my time is spent helping them solve some of their most complex challenges – managing risk, reducing costs, growing revenues, entering new markets, developing new products and increasing the value of their brand – all through programs that have a positive social, financial and environmental impact.

The rest of my time is spent internally with our team in Accenture Sustainability Services – helping them grow in their careers and achieve their professional and personal goals – and with our Accenture industry and functional leadership, to ensure that we are bringing the best of Accenture to our clients.

I am also very involved with thought leadership and market development, so I’m often speaking on panels and at conferences, with a focus on partnerships and the role of business in sustainable development. I lead our team’s investment portfolio, so I’m also looking at trends that may impact our business – everything from social impact bonds to the sharing economy. I was also honored in 2014 by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader for my work within and outside Accenture, so I spend a lot of time working on WEF’s global initiatives, like the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, which align with Accenture Sustainability Services goals.

Outside the Office/Work

I am a strong believer in giving back to our local communities, so I’m very involved with organizations in the Washington, DC area. I am on the leadership council for Raise DC, a collective impact organization focused on “cradle-to-career” opportunities for youth in Washington, DC. I volunteer with Back On My Feet, an organization focused on providing opportunities to people experiencing homelessness, and am a regular guest lecturer at Montgomery College.

I deeply enjoy spending time with my family, including my husband, two nieces and rescue dog, Lincoln! I also love trying out new restaurants, and there are lots in DC!

My Advice

Accenture is all about its people and change. If you are looking for a career that will challenge you, help you gather new experiences and work with a diverse set of people, this is definitely the place to be. Once you join the company, I recommend spending your first few years learning as much as possible and meeting as many people as possible. Your network within the company is very important, as everyone wants to help each other – whether it’s for your client, your career or your personal life.
