I am a Senior Manager and the VR Pilot Business Readiness Lead. I work with different business areas of Accenture to increase the adoption of the metaverse and virtual reality (VR) engagement. We’re preparing for the digital future and the Metaverse Continuum—a spectrum of digitally enhanced worlds that applies to all aspects of business, creating experiences that move from reality to virtual and back.
The metaverse is shaping how we foster an inclusive workplace culture. The pandemic made us realize the importance of finding new ways to create a sense of community and connection, even when our people can’t physically be together.
With the VR pilot program, we’re deploying more than 60,000 VR headsets to our people, creating an opportunity for them to stay omni-connected in the metaverse. Thousands of new hires have received the headsets as part of their onboarding process, giving them opportunities to tour offices, meet team members, attend meetings and even gather for social events—all virtually.
Our people are encouraged to bring their whole selves to work. Accenture’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)—such as the Hispanic ERG and Women’s ERG—are a vital part of how we support our people and cultivate a culture of equality. Through their headsets, members of our ERGs can personalize their avatars and connect with colleagues from around the world—even for social events like touring Black history museums and salsa dancing.
We’re also helping our clients build and operate experiences in the metaverse as it continues to evolve from the mobile, 2D screens of today to the fully immersive experiences of tomorrow.
We are on the precipice of enormous change, and I am working at the forefront.
