What I do
I’m part of the management team responsible for the development of Carnival Corporation’s MedallionClass™ experience—a wearable tech device used to enhance and personalize guest and crew experiences and interactions. The medallion is used to open cabin doors, pay for items, deliver food and beverages, find family and friends and understand guest activity preferences.
I work with the client to define the overall strategy and then partner with our teams around the world to develop the features. From creative design teams that define the user experience to developers, scrum masters and testers that bring the designs to life. Simply put, we work with the clients from start to finish, taking something that was just an idea all the way to implementation.
Our team members are in India, Bratislava, Singapore and Mexico, and we meet as a global team daily. We work in an agile environment, which means we work in two-week sprints to deliver a new working piece of functionality.
We don’t physically see each other in the office, but we develop new technologies that are transforming the travel industry. I genuinely enjoy working with colleagues from all over the world, and I believe that our diversity is a big part of the project's successes. Having a global perspective and our ability to communicate and bounce ideas off one another openly has made all the difference.
In the office, my focus is working with the client to ensure we have a clear vision. This project has given me great opportunities to interact daily with Carnival’s leadership team, frequently giving presentations to C-Suite executives to show the new features we’ve implemented. Once the products are deployed, I go on the ship to make sure the crew members understand how to use them, and I ensure they are working as expected. It has been a blast working together with the client to rapidly innovate and create products that the crew members and guests really enjoy.
When I’m not at work, I’m a family man. I love spending time with my wife and two children. We enjoy going to the beach and spending time with family and friends. I look forward to teaching my two young kids how to surf.
