"I love that I get the opportunity to work with such a wide variety of clients to help them simplify and improve their payroll processing."
As a Workday Business and Integration Architecture Specialist, I work with clients to simplify and streamline their payroll systems and processes while helping them migrate from their current payroll software to Workday. I’ve worked with businesses across various industries including aerospace and defense, pharmaceuticals, utilities and telecommunications.
I love that I get the opportunity to work with such a wide variety of clients to help them simplify and improve their payroll processing. Whether we’re facing challenges like complex 401k requirements, union requirements or a homegrown payroll system, I can use my growing expertise in Workday Payroll to design and implement Workday to make paying their employees a more efficient process.
I work closely with teammates in most areas of Workday (time and absence, compensation, human capital management (HCM), benefits, reporting and integrations) to ensure our client experiences an integrated system transformation. We work together to capture any cross-stream impacts, design efficient solutions and ensure the customer experience is prioritized in Workday.
For a recent project, I helped ensure that benefit-election data flowed accurately into payroll. Though the client had previously implemented a complex process, by working closely with the Integrations team, we were able to create a streamlined process for the client in Workday.

Before my workday starts, I always take time to incorporate some type of movement in my morning, whether it’s a walk, yoga, spin classes or weights.
A typical day in my role varies based on the project stage we are in. Currently, as we work through design, configuration and new tenant builds, it looks something like this:
I incorporate my passion for physical and mental wellness throughout my days. Ranging from fitness challenges and mindfulness sessions to sharing resources on a variety of topics, I have found wonderful ways to inspire a focus on personal health in a professional setting.
“Time management skills, attention to detail and having a team mindset are crucial to being an effective Workday consultant.”
Aside from building experience and expertise in Workday functionality and methodology, time management skills, attention to detail and having a team mindset are crucial to being an effective Workday consultant. To continue growing as a Workday consultant, I attend at least one Workday-led training every year, am actively involved in the Payroll, Absence and Time Tracking (PATT) community of practice in the Workday Business Group and participate in internal consulting trainings when I can.
If you want to succeed in the Workday space, jump right in! The area is growing rapidly, so do some research on Workday, identify what areas your skills would apply best to and take the leap.
