What I do

I’m in charge of growth and strategy for our Products Northeast team based in New York. I partner with clients across multiple industries, ranging from life sciences to consumer goods and retail. Our team is one of the biggest business units at Accenture; I collaborate with the head of that group to make sure we’re continuously growing our footprint with a focus on innovation and driving impact for our clients.

This means working with our consulting practitioners and account teams to help them think through their client growth strategy and connecting them to parts of Accenture that can be most useful. It also means leading a team of sales capture people responsible for sales strategy, competitor analysis and impact assessments. Our sales capture leads are particularly useful on larger, more complex transactions. Finally, I lead some of those strategic transactions myself by partnering with account and consulting leads to sell transformations to our clients and drive engagement.

A day in my life

The first thing I do when I wake up is scan my emails to see what’s come in overnight from clients and from our global teams. A big part of what’s needed from me is making sure everyone has access to whatever they require to get the right answers for their clients. Often, in the interests of time and responsiveness, text and email are my tools of choice.

I spend a couple of hours focused on either global teams or deals requiring urgent input or action evaluating where we’re at and what needs doing. My time after that is taken up by a combination of things: working with the leadership and delivery teams internally, communicating with the client to make sure they’re satisfied and working with our team to help shape what they’re bringing to the clients and connecting them to the right innovations that can make an impact. Much of my time is spent in the Innovation Hub in Soho, where we can bring together that thinking more easily.

The rest of my time is taken up by my family—largely my wonderful 12-year old boy. Being a working mother means I’m often juggling several tasks, both inside and outside the office. But I make it work. Nothing’s more important to me than watching him grow up.

My advice

Get to know yourself, your unique strengths and what differentiates you. Cultivate your own personal brand and don’t be afraid of going after the work that makes you happy. Because at the end of the day, that’s where you will make the most meaningful impact.

Remember, we are at our best when we bring our authentic selves to work. So find the thing that inspires you and gives you energy, and then apply your unique mind to make it amazing.
