My TAP experience

I was attracted to Accenture’s HR Talent Accelerator Program (TAP) because of the endless opportunities it provided for me, both personally and professionally. I’ll never forget my first interview for TAP as I learned about the program: A summer internship in New York City, a two-year rotational program in San Francisco and an opportunity to live and work abroad. My first thought was “Wow!” My second thought was, “I’d better do well in this interview.” Back then, I was an undergraduate, studying Business Administration at the University of Washington in Seattle. Today, I’m working for Accenture in San Fran as a full-time employee. Talk about an amazing start to a professional HR career!

This program has given me many unique opportunities and experiences to learn and grow. I’ve presented project plans to Ellyn Shook, our CHRO, and to Julie Sweet, our CEO. Right now, I’m working on my TAP Teachback, a 'capstone' style project where each TAPper selects a topic of their choice to research and present to an audience. This assignment is an important part of the TAP program and is intended to highlight our personal passions and interests. It has been the most exciting and challenging project for me so far.

A day in my life

My day always includes a mix of activities—from working-session calls with team members and supervisors, solo time to get my work done, and sometimes “town hall” calls or doing individual learning and development training. Overall, no day is dull and often involves interacting with people in HR and across the organization.

What I like most about my TAP experience is getting the exposure to a variety of roles, people, and unique opportunities.

Outside of work, you can find me going on weekend trips exploring Northern California and its best brunch spots. Some of my favorite trips have been to Carmel and Sonoma. I also enjoy being in nature – whether that be for a hike or just lounging in my hammock!

My advice

To anyone thinking of applying for TAP, don't hesitate to do so. The competition is stiff, but if you're fortunate enough to be selected, you'll gain remarkable professional experiences at this very early stage of an HR career. The Talent Accelerator Program goes far beyond what's said on the application. You'll gain mentorship, friendship, and belonging in a highly productive community. You'll work in a lot of different scenarios, which means interacting with many people with different perspectives and backgrounds.
