"Accenture is a force to be reckoned with in the Salesforce industry."

What I do

I work in technology consulting, specializing in Salesforce cloud-based technology. Prior to joining the firm, I was an independent consultant. I inadvertently fell into Salesforce after meeting the Salesforce team at an expo. After I learned of its capabilities, I was hooked—and that’s what led me to a Salesforce career with Accenture.

Much of my passion for Salesforce is not just due to the evergreen approach Salesforce has for its platform, but for Accenture’s leadership position designing, implementing and operating Salesforce solutions. Accenture is a force to be reckoned with in the Salesforce industry, and I love playing the roles I do with the talent and clients we serve.

My first project at Accenture—a service cloud transformation for one of the world’s largest retailers—was a great experience. The team had very limited Salesforce knowledge and a backlog of more than 700 requests that needed to be resolved ASAP. Within just a few short months, the entire backlog was resolved. We received an honorable mention from both the client and Accenture leadership.

A day in my life

My days are never the same; it always depends on the client and the demand. In some scenarios, I am up at 5 a.m., working with our offshore partners collecting project status, troubleshooting technical challenges or collaborating on a solution for our client. Spending time with the client and our project teams, talking through “designing the future of the enterprise” is one of my favorite parts about what I do.

I am a “type-A”, people person, so I love working with others. I enjoy passing along my experiences and lessons learned to others to help them grow and face their own challenges.

In my spare time, I always have some sort of project going on. One of my greatest passions is for cars. To date, I have owned 47 cars (and have every license plate to prove it!), designing and rebuilding almost all of them by hand. I also love dogs and have two: Bailey the 150-lb. American Rottweiler and Baxter (or Dingus, as we lovingly call him), who isn’t very bright but is full of love and personality. I also enjoy picking up my guitar and sitting on the back porch enjoying the music and the weather.

My advice

Working with Salesforce means we’re storytellers, innovators, hard workers—and we are human. Be humble and don’t let your ambitions be your guide. Don’t be afraid to say, “I don’t know, but I will find out,” and then go do it.

Above all, be genuine and treat your co-workers like they’re also your client. You don’t just want to make a good first impression; you want to make a lasting impression throughout your entire career.
