Jamie Butler

Business Operations Associate Manager

San Antonio, Texas

"It’s exciting being on the client site and building relationships that are critical to our mission."

How I put change in motion

I serve as the Resource Management Lead for one of our federal clients, managing the processes of event planning, scheduling and allocating resources for projects like helping employees find new roles or adopting new software. I frequently collaborate with HR and business teams to ensure that we’re compliant with our business practices.

I supported my husband’s career in the U.S. Army and put my career on the back burner while I raised our two kids. When it came time to return to work, I had a difficult time helping prospective employers understand the value of my skills. Accenture saw my experience for what it was: A crash course in program management. I joined the team in 2015 as the first military spouse hired through an Accenture initiative to recruit 5,000 veterans and military spouses by 2020.

A day in my life

Every day at Accenture can be totally different. One day I might be planning an event for 500 employees, and the next we could be speaking with account leadership about training they would like to implement to improve and increase employee engagement. I typically spend 75% of my time collaborating with hiring managers, team leads, vendors and candidates.

I love how technology connects us and offers the opportunity to learn from and interact with diverse people across various business areas and around the world, and I take advantage of Accenture’s many training and development opportunities. Having the ability to constantly learn and develop new skills is important to me.

I like to call myself a professional volunteer. I work within the Accenture Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and numerous community organizations to be the voice and change for others that I wish I’d had growing up.

“I love being connected to diverse people across various business areas and around the world.”

My advice

Network and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. As a natural introvert who spends a large part of my day collaborating with others, I have found that being open-minded and getting comfortable with being challenged outside of my comfort areas has been extremely beneficial as I grow in my career and help support team members.
