What I do

I design computer systems that help companies meet their customers’ needs—so companies can anticipate what their customers want to buy. Consider a clothing company that needs to ask for your size every time you talk with them, or what happens when a paint company keeps suggesting colors you have already told them you do not like. You may want to shop somewhere else. These computer systems encourage customers to purchase more products from our clients.

A day in my life

There’s always a lot going on, whether I am on-site at client locations, or on teleconferences with Salesforce people working on the latest technologies. I am Accenture’s lead for helping companies transition from older Salesforce technologies to newer ones, so people from all over the world ask me for help.

I work on many exciting projects—but it’s not the projects that you work on that make things exciting. It’s the people you meet along the way, and what they can teach you. We are now working with a client that does a very special thing, managing the credit cards issued by retail stores. The people there are the experts in this business, and I could not have learned how this business works anywhere else.

You can find your own path here. I like figuring out what is important to me and making that happen. For me, indulging my creative outlet when designing systems and being a technology expert is more important than running a department. Working with Salesforce Lightning is fun, and Accenture encourages that.

My advice

It is my job to try to make projects go well. But me knowing how to do it doesn’t matter; I need to be able to explain it to others. So, learn to be a good communicator. That’s not always easy, but it is the most important thing you can do.

The Tier 1 SOC Analyst will possess experience with network, endpoint, threat intelligence, forensics and malware reverse engineering, as well as the functioning of specific applications or underlying IT infrastructure; has analyzed phishing emails including email headers, malware, source code, acts as a first responder to account/system attacks and compromises to determine threat vectors and provide initial remediation; uses SIEM to monitor/analyze incidents, and works with stakeholders to resolve incidents; ; escalates incidents when necessary using policies and procedures, closely involved in developing, tuning and implementing threat detection analytics.
