How I put change in motion

One of the ways that Accenture grows its capabilities and adds more offerings for its clients is by acquiring smaller companies that have the desired skills and expertise. What I do is work on talent integration, which means working on initiatives and activities that help the newly acquired joiners to make sure they are set up to succeed at Accenture. We want the activities they’re involved in to be relevant to their skills and personalized for them.

My TAP experience

Throughout TAP, I had many opportunities to describe the assignments I was given to various other teams and stakeholders, and they in turn were forthcoming with useful feedback. I especially liked the training we received in the essential aspects of communication such as storytelling. These opportunities to learn and grow set me up for success. I graduated from TAP with strong presentation skills and confidence in my ability to communicate effectively, which I didn’t have before.

The best part of TAP for me was being surrounded by peers who were thoughtful, motivated, and talented. I also really valued the opportunities to work directly with senior Accenture leaders, thus giving me perspectives on the business and the invaluable functions that HR provides.

A day in my life

There's really no typical day at work, but each day brings new learning experiences. That includes a wide array of training opportunities. For example, I'm currently participating in the HR Strategic Advisor course. And then there's the Technology Quotient (TQ) training which is really bringing me up to speed on Accenture’s various partnerships, projects with clients, not to mention building my fluency in areas of tech such as Agile, Cloud, Blockchain, AI and more.

In my very first year as a full-time employee (I’m now in the middle of my third year at Accenture), I was “tapped” to help Ellyn Shook, our Chief HR and Leadership Officer, with a special project for a city-wide apprenticeship program. I accompanied Ellyn to meetings with some of the world’s largest companies and we even attended a cocktail party together to celebrate the launch of the apprenticeship.

When I’m not working, you can find me taking walks with my 11-month-old son, trying out a new recipe, and spending time with my family. I feel fortunate to work at a place like Accenture where I am given opportunities to succeed in my professional life without compromising my personal and family life.

My advice

There are many great applicants for TAP, but if you’re fortunate enough to be selected, be prepared for a deep dive into the challenging world of a global professional services company. But be assured that the necessary training and support will be there when you need it.
