How I put change in motion

My job is to support Accenture’s strategic initiatives in North America, and more specifically our inclusion and diversity (I&D) goals. Accenture's purpose is to deliver on the promises of technology and human ingenuity. Our commitment to our people, clients and communities is to accelerate equality for all. This is the driver for everything I do in my role as an HR Service Delivery Analyst.

My TAP experience

The Accenture HR Talent Accelerator Program (TAP) is a highly selective two-year rotational program, so when I was accepted into the program the summer of my junior year in college, I was overwhelmed with joy and excitement.

My TAP experience began with a three-month summer internship. At the end of my internship, I became an employee, which was a proud moment and the start of my HR career. Accenture is a huge company of more than 500,000 employees around the globe. I always considered Accenture as a consulting company, and I wasn’t sure that “consulting” was the way for me. I quickly learned that Accenture is more than that. We’re involved in technology, strategy, consulting, industry, business, sustainability, and more, making Accenture an exciting place to build my HR career.

A day in my life

As I reflect on my experience, TAP provided unique opportunities to engage with business leaders and HR luminaries while also learning the breadth and depth of the HR function. I have so many fond memories, including that time I sang karaoke with Ellyn Shook, Accenture’s chief leadership and human resources officer. I maintain close connections with my TAP cohorts who have become an extension of my family. I also stay connected to the broader TAP community, including our sponsors and mentors. These relationships play an important role in my life and my HR career at Accenture.

In times of self-reflection, I see how the TAP program helped me gain confidence, creativity, and even assertiveness. I’ve always felt supported, challenged, and trusted with important work.

My advice

At Accenture, we support being “Truly Human” which means being authentic to who you are and bringing your best self to work. My advice for TAP applicants is to showcase your authenticity, individuality, and uniqueness—point out all the things that make you “Truly Human,” and you’ll go far.
