"Our mobile and web applications are completely changing the way Princess Cruises' crew members interact with guests, for an extremely personalized experience."

What I do

I support the development of mobile and web applications for Carnival Corporation’s MedallionClassTM experience—an initiative that leverages wearable tech to enhance guest and crew experiences and interactions.

I work closely with Carnival to understand their business needs and guide the development of intuitive technology solutions, where guests can access features of their upcoming cruise and provide personal preferences. These preferences help the crew provide a more personalized experience. I focus on the user experience so that the applications are easy-to-use and enjoyable for both crew and guests alike.

A day in my life

Each day is busy, but fun. We collaborate every day, working together with Accenture colleagues around the world and other partners on site in Miami to brainstorm and develop the best technology solutions for guests and crew, with a common goal of enhancing the cruise experience.

We continue to enhance and expand new features within the products offered to both guests and crew daily—and we see these changes come to life because more than 99.9% of the guests are engaging in the MedallionClassTM experience.

Guests are using the applications to prepare for their vacations, so that during port embarkations, the crew can provide an expedited boarding process. A few simple confirmations using the mobile app, and guests are whisked on board.

The feedback from crew members is gratifying as well. Everyone from bartenders and servers, to housekeepers, retail and venue staff, is using the solutions to more quickly access guest information and engage guests on a more personal level.

Outside of work, most of my spare time is spent playing with my two pugs, enjoying new restaurants and going to the beach with family and friends.

“Everyone from bartenders and servers, to housekeepers, retail and venue staff, is using the solutions to more quickly engage guests.”

My advice

If Information Technology is your interest, explore different opportunities. I always thought IT was all about coding, but there are so many different roles within the tech space that allow you to not only contribute to the project, but literally transform an entire industry. With continued advances in next-gen IT, there’s no limit.
