Alex Sweers

Workday Solution Architect

Washington, D.C.

"As consultants in the Accenture DayNine practice, we have the opportunity to positively impact the day-to-day lives of people all over the world."

What I do

As a Solution Architect, I focus on the very early stages of exploration, when a client first begins to consider working with us to help with their Workday implementation. My team helps the client better understand our offerings and potential solutions, as well as the factors that make Accenture an excellent transition partner.

I spend time working directly with clients on Workday implementations, which is an important input in the solutions I craft. One example is a key Workday implementation for a major retail organization, where my role included providing guidance to the client on their change management strategy, specifically with their training approach. I developed training modules to help employees navigate Workday and complete critical processes within the system, which was deployed to their employees at stores across the U.S.

To this day, when I drive by one of these retail stores, I can’t help but wonder if an employee is viewing the training I developed! It’s exciting that as consultants in the Accenture DayNine practice, we have the opportunity to positively impact the day-to-day lives of people all over the world.

A day in my life

My typical day at Accenture is fast-paced, dynamic and exciting! I might spend part of my day discussing a Workday solution with our sales team and leadership, another part on a call with a potential client to understand their Workday requirements, and still another part partnering with colleagues on internal initiatives to help drive the success of our practice.

I really enjoy the career possibilities and the company’s focus on inclusion and diversity at Accenture. I feel that the only limits to your career here are your imagination and your willingness to ask questions. In my spare time, you will likely find my wife and I hiking, camping, spending time at the beach or venturing away for a day trip. I am also an avid music fan and enjoy playing guitar and electric bass.

“The only limits to your Accenture career are your imagination and your willingness to ask questions.”

My advice

Never stop learning. I have always valued learning, and I think it has truly made a difference in my career success—it allows me to keep a fresh perspective and constantly build my knowledge and skills, and it also keeps me humble in remembering that others can teach me something.
