This is not your typical Accenture job posting; we are the Hardware Design group at Accenture, we design and engineer smart connected hardware—specifically helping our clients bring world class innovative products to the market that make a real impact to their business.  Our group is made up of industrial designers, mechanical engineers, embedded firmware engineers, electrical engineers, and QA test engineers—the full stack required to take a concept from an interesting idea to a real product.

In our group, we empower Mechanical Engineers to take ownership of projects.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will be designing mechanical assemblies, defining challenging product architectures, analyzing and reviewing concepts, and creating world class smart products all while collaborating directly with clients and leading your own workstream.  You may be on a team of mechanical engineers or working solely as a mechanical systems lead on small to large multidisciplinary, geographically diverse team, working in our innovation hubs, communicating online or traveling to collaborate.  The Senior role entails defining next steps in the design process, identifying risks and implementing risk mitigations, all the while being a strong contributor to our mechanical engineering team and culture. You will help to constantly improve and optimize our process.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 plus years of experience in hardware product development as a mechanical engineer
  • Experience in major portions of the product development process
  • In depth understanding of design for manufacturing for traditional hardware design processes including injection molding, sheet metal, die casting, etc.
  • In-depth understanding of rapid prototyping processes
  • Affinity for Industrial Design, Human Centered Design, Design Thinking.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and efficiency with parametric ME 3D CAD (surfacing, assembly management, master-modeling technique). SolidWorks is our preferred CAD package.
  • Experience with tolerance analysis, defining loops, designing with tolerances in mind
  • Experience defining/scoping work streams for mechanical workstreams

Ideal Additional Qualifications

  • Experience working in a consulting environment
  • Experience working directly with industrial designers
  • Experience working directly with electrical engineers, firmware and quality test engineers
  • Experience with Medical Device Design
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis
  • Experience managing other mechanical engineers
  • Experience in all phases of hardware product development, from concept to manufacturing
  • Experience with low volume and high volume manufacturing processes
  • Experience with working with startups and with established fortune 500 companies
  • Experience with mechatronic systems/electronics including Arduino/Raspberry Pi
  • Experience with GD&T

As required by Colorado law under the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $122,000-$152,000 and information on benefits offered is here.
