Job Description

In this role, you will develop and execute test plans critical to shaping the design of a wide variety of exciting new hardware and hardware/software hybrid products.  Many of these products actively push the boundary of the current state of the art in widely varying applications, offering an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to both hone your skills, as well as develop entirely new perspectives well out beyond the horizon.  

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop and document standardized test methods and processes to ensure repeatability and productivity.

  • Design and develop test setups, test fixtures, data processing tools, and algorithms.

  • Create and review test plans, test procedures, and test reports for new and existing products.

  • Analyzing test data prior to delivery to customer, while formulating expectations for test results based on historical data.

  • Participate in Engineering product reviews.

  • Perform independent unit testing, debugging, software/hardware integration.

  • Support and suggest product improvement and replacement efforts.

  • Suggest process and standards refinement efforts.

  • Assure quality of software or software tools, using regression, integration, and system analysis as appropriate.

  • Scrutinize test results with development teams and peers to assure optimum effect, while providing technical expertise and knowledge to resolve all issues as needed.

  • Perform testing per predefined test plans while adhering to test schedule(s).

  • Aggressively develop automated testing methodologies, improving testability and cycle time.

For this role you will need experience in many of the following areas:  

  • Strong fundamental electrical circuit knowledge.

  • Hands-on programming experience in high-level and script-based programming languages.

  • Strong knowledge of Python specifically around test and test equipment automation is required.

  • Working knowledge of other development platforms is beneficial (C#, Bash, Java, etc.)

  • Strong Linux fundamentals.

  • Familiarity with stand-alone test instrumentation (both bench-top and PC-based) and PC-based automation of that equipment.

  • Must be able to execute tests with little to no supervision.

  • Demonstrate managing through ambiguity, and technical problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to find complex bugs and root cause and track their resolution while recording and informing others of all appropriate and relevant info.

  • Experience in writing test plans, test procedures, and test reports.

  • Experience in new product development and/or product evaluation.

  • Strong data analysis skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Flexibility and comfort working in a fast paced, dynamic, and sometimes ambiguous project environment.

  • Proven ability to work independently, while applying sound technical and business judgement.

  • Dynamic personality with a “can do” attitude, while demonstrating grace under fire.

Qualifications

Here’s what you need:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science or equivalent (12 years) work experience and training

  • 5+ years QA & Test Engineering experience.  

Bonus Points if you have any of the following experience:

  • Designing automated test solutions on a cloud provider for automated test and/or CI/CD applications

  • Experience developing integrated test systems with LabVIEW and measurement hardware.

  • Management of, or participation in, Scrum-based Agile development and release methodologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead small engineering teams (3-5 people).
