Job Description

Accenture Labs’ Digital Experiences Group seeks a well-rounded interdisciplinary researcher with strong technical skills who is interested in working at the intersection of people’s experience and emerging digital technologies. 
Our applied research group uses a wide range of technical and scientific approaches to address important business problems and transform how people interact with technology across various facets of their lives. Some of our projects from the last year focused on:


•    Natural language processing to help livestreamers interact with their audiences.
•    Generating synthetic images to train computer vision to recognize new product designs before they ever physically exist. 
•    Digital twins of urban infrastructure that help large geographic regions coordinate to meet sustainability goals.

Researchers in our lab have:
•    A passion for rethinking how people interact with machines across a range of complex challenges, and a track record designing and building systems which envision how to transform the way we work and live.
•    Strong technical skills and a demonstrated track record of technical innovation.
•    Commitment to understanding the diverse and inclusive perspectives that shape the complex relationships between people and technologies.
•    Experience synthesizing insights across a range of disciplines, including hardware, software, social and behavioral science, and economics. 

Additionally, researchers at the Associate Principal level:
•    Define and manage research projects within our group’s overall agenda.
•    Shape and build on ideas developed with business stakeholders and managers to produce high quality documents and presentations.
•    Manage and execute projects that combine prototype development, qualitative and quantitative research, and thought leadership.
•    Collaborate with an interdisciplinary ecosystem of researchers, engineers, consultants, academic partners, and business stakeholders.
•    Participate in their research community by building relationships publishing about their work and building relationships with external researchers.. 

Key Responsibilities:
Influence and Execute R&D Agenda
•    Define research projects with R&D leadership, and manage those projects’ technical execution.
•    Supervise and mentor more junior researchers and research engineers, helping them complete their responsibilities and assisting them with career progression.
•    Manage prototype creation to illustrate Labs technical innovations with functional examples – including design, development and testing.
•    Help manage client engagements, working closely to achieve successful translation of research technology to client use cases and environments.

Act as Subject Matter Expert in area of expertise
•    Participate in projects across Accenture as a representative of your area of expertise.
•    Present issues or trends within area of expertise to raise client and/or Accenture awareness.
•    Act as a technical contributor across the organization in your area of expertise, either internally for Accenture or at client engagements.
•    Develop internal and external thought leadership, targeted for various audiences and in a variety of formats (blogs, white papers, videos, etc.).
•    Generate unique intellectual property (patents, etc.).
•    Publish and present research in academic and industry setting: write/review papers, participate on panels, organize workshops , etc.

Qualifications

Here's what you need:

•    MS or PhD in Human-Computer/Human-Robot/Human-AI Interaction, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Design, Cognitive Science, User Experience Research, or a related field.
•    2 years of experience managing research/advanced R&D related to AI, HCI, HRI, or Computational Design.
•    4 years of experience creating rapid prototypes that apply and test new ideas related to the interaction of emerging technologies and people’s experiences.

Bonus Points if: 
•    Experience building technology for Extended and Mixed Reality, Human Machine & Robotic Interaction, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Commonsense Learning, Computational Geometry, Body-machine interfaces and sensors, Wearables and IoT, and other relevant emerging technology that affects people’s experiences.
•    Expertise with user experience research methodologies such as ethnographic research, usability testing, focus groups, etc.   

Professional Skills:
•    Ability to travel based on client needs (up to 20%)
•    Proven ability to create a project plan and execute against it
•    Proven ability to motivate and lead a high-performance team
•    Proven ability to build, manage and foster a team-oriented environment 
•    Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
•    Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
•    Excellent leadership and management skills
