Infrastructure & Capital Projects – Associate Interior Designer – K-12, ANS
THE WORK:
- You'll assist the Interior Designer in evaluating the furniture, fixtures, and equipment needs for projects, and develops efficient solutions within budget, schedule, and standards.
- You'll develop space plans and interior architectural layouts; and assists in the selection of furnishings, equipment, and interior finishes for schools in accordance with District and industry standards.
- You'll review and evaluate construction documents and visits project sites to confirm that space plans, design concepts and selected furniture and equipment are safe, functional, and aesthetically appropriate. Ensures that selected furniture and equipment meet all public health, safety, and welfare requirements including fire and life safety code, accessibility, environmental, and sustainability guidelines.
- You'll assist the Interior Designer in planning meetings and site visits to evaluate and review project needs and status.
- You'll assist the Interior Designer in developing and implementing project schedules and the installation of furniture and equipment orders.
- You'll assist in communication with manufacturers and vendors regarding the production of custom products and design solutions.
- You'll assist in the preparation of detailed reports and records for furniture and equipment provisioning.
- You'll manage and update lists of furniture, equipment, manufacturers, and vendors used by the district.
- You'll consult with manufacturers and vendors on product, specifications, finishes, and pricing as well as coordinate product specifications and purchase orders with District procurement office
- You'll create interior drawings and visual aids for review, approval and may assist sites in replacement of furniture and equipment.
- Onsite at client site: The work location for this role is onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery and cultivate our client relationships.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree preferably in interior design, interior architecture or architecture or any related field OR
- Completion of 40 semester units or equivalent from a recognized college or university in interior design, architecture of any related field, with an additional 2 years of experience.
- Minimum six (6) years full-time paid professional experience conceptualizing, planning, selecting, and coordinating interior layouts, interior building finishes, furniture, and equipment with the required degree

- Furniture and equipment specification of educational facilities
- Principles, practices and techniques for space planning
- Strong understanding of color theory principles and its application in Interior Design
- Timeline and budget preparation
- Basic concepts and application of scheduling, procurement, and business data processing
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Revit
- Building codes, ADA, fire and life code as they relate to furniture and equipment Principles,
- practices, and techniques of project management
- Professional Interior Design studio practices
- Plan and design interior spaces and specify furniture
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, drawings, and specifications
