Operations professionals work on projects across a range of business processes, business applications and information technology. They may provide technology services, such as application management, infrastructure management and systems integration, or they may deliver business process outsourcing services, including finance and accounting, procurement and human resources. Depending on the role, Operations professionals may be based at a client’s office or in one of Accenture’s 50 delivery centers around the world.

The Work:

The Global Risk Manager will work as a key member of the Global Energy Services Leadership team within the Accenture Energy As-A-Service offering, reporting directly to the North American Energy Practice Lead. The candidate should be well versed on all deregulated energy markets in North America, both natural gas and electricity, in addition to having familiarity with other fuels, global energy markets, renewables, and other topics of concerns to Commercial and Industrial (C&I) clients of Accenture. The candidate should have familiarity with standard energy sourcing processes and key suppliers, in addition to traditional risk management tools such as hedging (physical and financial), options, and VAR. This individual should understand key fundamental and technical drivers of energy markets and be able to explain the importance of global developments to North American energy end users. The candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills, proofing skills for key reports, and presentation ability, in addition to research and analytical capabilities along with Management capabilities and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Hire and retain key team members, developing and coaching counselees towards increased professional capabilities, contributions to Accenture, and personal satisfaction, while developing a succession plan for area of responsibility.

  • Maximize internal/external client satisfaction while minimizing cost to serve through automation and off-shore staffing strategy. Key cost metric to minimize = fixed labor cost / revenue.

  • Lead Risk Management Plan creation and regular client deliverables for select clients.

  • Oversee Risk and Portfolio Management functions including managing Analysts, notifying Portfolio Management clients of significant open positions especially in advance of summer/winter seasons, creating client deliverable templates, and establishing quality assurance protocols.

  • Ensure fixed price percentages/targets, required renewal dates, and other Risk Management Plan details are loaded accurately to Accenture systems and communicate with Procurement and Portfolio Management Analysts to ensure Risk Management Plans are followed. Promote team work between the Procurement and Portfolio Management teams, guiding joint process creation and compliance.

  • Guide and oversee Market Intelligence offerings including the weekly North American Energy Market Report, quarterly Special Reports, and a twice annual webinar along with any special presentations or new reports which might become relevant, and also contribute to global Market Intelligence products produced primarily by other individuals.

  • Maintain accurate price data in Accenture systems.

  • Develop and maintain appropriate Risk Management and Pricing Dashboards in the Accenture office environment to communicate key market signals to Analysts and convey team expertise to visiting clients and prospects.

  • Guide delivery of specialized Risk Management products.

  • Design new products and technology offerings to improve client and prospect experience and drive increased revenue and CCI.

  • Lead and engage in Bespoke Consulting project delivery for the North American and global markets. 

  • Support sales opportunities by presenting as SME and cultivate sales opportunities wherever possible.

  • Back up, cross-train, and team/support with 1) North American Deregulated Energy Procurement Lead and 2) Global Market Intelligence and Strategy Lead as key peer partners.

  • Manage any special or strategic projects assigned.

Qualifications

Here’s what you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in deregulated market and energy risk management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or other advanced degree, preferably with an energy focus

  • Energy Services Consulting experience

  • Management Consulting project leadership experience

  • Publications experience

  • Sales and/or client presentation experience

  • Ability to interface with customers and suppliers via strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Adaptable management style to conform to the varied corporate cultures and organizational structures of our customers
