The Claims Supervisor plans, organizes, directs and controls transaction processing operations.  The supervisor also analyzes workflow and assignments to ensure operations run efficiently.


Role Responsibilities
  • Provides direction to staff members in resolving problems which arise with internal or external customers
  • Meets with customers to determine needs, solicit feedback on service levels and implements solutions to address issues
  • Ensures measurable results are achieved on time
  • Effectively manages inventory to ensure contractual requirements are met
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and guides the implementation of an action plan
  • Interacts with internal and external customers in an effective manner
  • Understands, interprets and applies medical rules and regulations as well as standards and procedures related to department activities
  • Directs subordinates to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies
  • Follows established practices and procedures in analyzing solutions or data from which answers can be readily obtained
  • Monitors daily operations of a unit or sub-unit
  • Requires full knowledge of own area of functional responsibility
  • Interacts daily with subordinates and/or functional peer groups which normally involves exchange or presentation of information
  • Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of employees, assigns tasks, checks work at frequent intervals and maintains schedules
  • Ability to work beyond standard work hours if needed

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience (responsibility for workload and performance management for teams of 3 or more people)
  • Minimum of 1 year of Medicaid or private insurance experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems, operations, trends and developments in recruitment and retention principals and practices of office supervision and disciplinary process
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access database
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
Professional Skill Requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Self-starter who has proven track record of working successfully as part of a larger team
  • Ability to troubleshoot and deliver solutions
