Accenture Research is a global team of industry, business and digital analysts and thought leaders who create data-driven insights to identify disruptors, opportunities and risks for Accenture and its clients. The team includes 300 analysts, economists, data scientists and survey experts based in 20 countries. They use innovative business research techniques such as economic value modeling, analytics, crowdsourcing, expert networks, surveys, data visualization, and open research with Tier 1 academic and business partners.
 
Accenture Research powers hundreds of points of views published by Accenture every year and handles Accenture’s exclusive network of data and sources covering all industries, countries, market trends and digital technologies.
 
We work in four main areas:
  • Developing points of view: Accenture creates original, cutting-edge points of view to use with clients, the media and in conferences. Many of our projects are published and quoted in the media.
     
  • Working directly with clients: we work alongside our colleagues from the practice to provide research to clients and as part of the client experiences we deliver from the Centre.
     
  • Supporting Accenture’s growth: our researchers advise the leaders of our practices on the opportunities for growth, on differentiating Accenture in the market and about our positioning relative to our competitors.
     
  • New business opportunities: helping Accenture understand markets and companies and identifying ways in which we can help clients become high-performance businesses and governments.
About the Role
Accenture Research's Global Research Content Lead supports Accenture Research by directing a wide range of data/information content vendor activities, including negotiating contracts, orchestrating usage internally, evangelizing innovative practices and leading the Content team.
 
This role requires someone with experience in working with third party information providers, who has a client-focused mentality, and an outgoing and confident personal style.
 
We seek a person who has strong organizational skills, experience in negotiating contracts (business model, terms & conditions, and pricing) and the ability to build strong relationships with third party information providers and agencies, internal finance, procurement, and lawyers, to manage the front-to-back process of obtaining optimal access to a large portfolio of data/information sources.  This person should have an authentic, collaborative leadership style that quickly earns “trusted advisor” status with colleagues, customers, business partners, and stakeholders.  He/she should have a good understanding of copyright laws and usage terms and be able to confidently respond to basic copyright questions. 
 
Key Responsibilities include:
  1. Develop and leverage relationships with third party data/information providers on behalf of Accenture Research
    • Lead negotiations and on-going management of strategic partnerships
    • Finalize contractual arrangements with internal stakeholders including usage terms and finance details of data/information purchase
    • Establish and deliver AR Content budget
  2. Orchestrate usage of main third-party data/information within Accenture Research
    • Elaborate and implement strategy to disseminate usage (access, communication, training) of third-party data/information within Accenture in close relationship with vendors and Accenture leadership
    • Work with legal and others to minimize contractual and copyright risks
    • Be responsible for the AR-processed invoices and Purchase Orders related to AR Content contracts
  3. Manage Accenture Research Content team
    • Lead a global team of dedicated Content experts, including recruitment, training and performance assessment
    • Prepare and present Content reporting to Accenture Research leadership
    • Represent Accenture Research in Content discussions with Procurement, Legal, Analyst Relations and other Accenture stakeholders
  4. Drive Innovation in the field of data/information to support Accenture Research strategy
    • Identify innovation opportunities in line with Accenture Research strategy and third-party vendor strategy
    • Promote use of digital content tools and techniques (SSO, APIs) in order to scale usage of data/information and enable personalization of experience for the end user
    • Shape and lead the change agenda of the Accenture Research content team
This job is based in the US. Preferred locations: Chicago, San Francisco, New York or Boston, but we will consider applications of people based in other cities.
 

This job is suited for either a Senior Principal or an experienced Manager who aspires to be promoted to Senior Principal.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • 8 years of content management and negotiation experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expertise in sourcing, contract management, supplier relationship management, negotiations, and project management
  • Deep and extensive knowledge of major business, industry, and technology data/information sources

Professional Skills:

  • Leadership skills and proven ability to direct the work of others, recognizing the cultural diversity of our global organization
  • Proven ability to negotiate effectively and foster partner-like relationships with multiple vendors
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - proven ability to work independently and to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize appropriately often under deadline pressure and with shifting priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and comfortable communicating with managing directors, internal customers and key stakeholders, lawyers, and external vendors/agencies
  • Personal bias towards the adoption of new tools and techniques in terms of data/information management
  • Demonstrated leadership in professional setting; either military or civilian
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in a professional setting; either military or civilian
