Support clients to design, build and run an agile, scalable IT infrastructure that is standardized and optimized to deliver operational efficiencies, improve employee and workplace performance and meet dynamic business demands. Apply infrastructure improvements across the workplace, network, data center and operations as well as provide resources to manage and run the infrastructure on a managed or capacity services basis.
 

AFS is looking for a seasoned Scrum Master with a strong understanding and experience in agile methods with proven agile project delivery successes. Our experienced agile team is engaging in a large scale agile delivery project that is taking on a new mission for a critical government healthcare system. This position will provide agile engineering coaching responsibilities across numerous project teams. The ideal candidate has a proven track record and experience with both eXtreme Programming (XP) and Scrum agile project management practices with the ability to successfully manage, champion, coach and adapt the software development processes across multiple teams in achieving defined project objectives. As a key agile advocate, qualified candidates will be working with our customers to help lead their agile software development efforts. 


Key Responsibilities: 

·       Supports multiple software development Scrum delivery teams in learning and adopting agile engineering and Scrum processes within current project environment 

·       Coach agile delivery teams on key agile principles including team ownership and self-organization, effective user stories, agile estimation, transparency, automated testing  

·       Coach agile delivery teams on key agile Scrum-related roles, activities, and events including project planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, and demos  

·       Coach agile delivery teams on key agile engineering-related areas including unit/integration testing, continuous integration and delivery, agile architecture, emergent design, test-first, refactoring, and autonomous services  

·       Assists with program execution and Release feature completion tracking 

·       Facilitates Release Planning readiness activities including product Vision, Backlogs and facilities readiness and Release Planning events and Sprint Planning events for assigned Scrum teams  

·       Aggregates team objectives for both Sprint and Release Planning events and publishes for visibility and transparency 

·       Works with Product Management and Product Owners with backlog grooming activities and to help assure strategy and execution alignment 

·       Escalates program level impediments 

·       Manages and communicate program and team risks 

·       Recommends, develops, and publishes regular project team and program level efficiency and productivity metrics and project dashboards around relevant schedule, scope, and quality areas  

·       Drives project and program-level continuous improvement via retrospective events that promotes continuous improvement and inspires creative solutions that eliminate waste and/or improve team throughput  

·       Facilitates Communities of Practice (CoP) around team and program level agile Scrum and engineering process improvements 

·       Facilitates Scrum of Scrums to ensure cross-team coordination 

·       Provide instruction and training to software development teams in the area of agile software development processes and principles; develop slides as appropriate 

·       Conduct agile process audits to ensure the development teams are practicing the agile approaches and principles 

·       Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information 

·       Acts as an advocate of agile processes both within the team and with the larger program

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree(MBA a plus) 

·       7 years of software delivery experience with at least 4 years delivering projects using agile development approaches 

·       2 years of formal agile coaching/consulting around agile engineering concepts and approaches, preferably on large federal government programs 

·       Thorough knowledge of agile concepts, practices, and procedures related to coaching and facilitating agile software development teams in the adoption and practice of agile principles, values, and approaches  

·       Deep expertise with and coaching teams on agile engineering approaches, values and procedures including unit/integration testing, continuous integration and delivery, agile architecture, emergent design, test-first, refactoring, and autonomous services 

·       Deep expertise with and coaching teams with Scrum-related roles, activities, and events including project planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, and demos  

·       Deep understanding of all software lifecycle development disciplines - Project Management, Requirements Management, Analysis & Design, Development, Quality Assurance (Testing), Implementation, Deployment, Configuration & Change Management  

·       Must be a Certified Scrum Master (CSM)   

·       Possesses strong leadership and organization skills, must display excellent communication (written and verbal), time management, project planning, people and team building skills  

·       Possesses excellent facilitation and collaboration skills  

·       Experience in teaching and/or mentoring multiple agile teams 

·       Experience communicating and removing impediments within and across multiple teams 

·       Effectively facilitates discussions and demonstrate strong analytical and problem/conflict resolution skills 

·       Familiarity with automated regression and user acceptance testing 

·       Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse personality types and drive decisions
