Accenture's iDefense Threat Intelligence is looking for talented and driven individuals to conduct industry insider perspective research, analysis, and reporting on strategic topics related to cyber threat and risk outlook focused on companies across the energy value chain.  This includes companies that are deemed critical infrastructure providers and that also operate in the upstream exploration, production, midstream, downstream, refining, and power generation sectors. 

This position involves in-depth specialized research, collaboration with Accenture's global energy, utilities, chemicals, and mining specialists and peer analysts, and development and maintenance of short and long term research projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in writing for executive level leaders as well as for security operations center SOC audiences, and will ultimately lead the presentation of findings through briefings and external engagements. This position will have high visibility and provides an excellent opportunity for analysts to grow within Accenture's very active cyber-security practice and thought leadership community. Your Role Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a firm knowledge of critical infrastructure providers including energy, utilities, chemicals and even mining organizations, their providers and 3rd parties. Ideally this would include knowledge of these organizations operations, assets and security. Finally, the ideal candidate should have an interest in conducting intelligence oriented investigation and research, and in advising strategic and executive decision makers on threats, impact, and planning.

 Key Responsibilities May Include:


  • Analysis of threats and risk to companies in the Resources industry (oil and gas, utilities, chemicals, and mining)
  • Research threat actors, groups, and events to produce analysis and reporting on threats to organizations in the Resources industry
  • Conduct online research, interview-based research, and statistical analysis in collaboration with peer technical research teams
  • Develop and produce strategic intelligence reports focused on industry-level analysis of developing cyber-security-related threats, events, conditions, and impacts
  • Conduct data analysis to uncover cyber-security trends and strategic issues in critical infrastructure organizations
  • Research and compile indicators to produce cyber-security risk indices
  • Develop, produce, and deliver high-level briefings and briefing materials on industry-focused cyber-security issues and threats
  • Engage and develop relationships with peers among Accenture Security's clientele and within Resources industries to learn client and industry intelligence requirements, reporting use cases, and feedback on Accenture Security products
  • Represent Accenture Security at security conferences and industry gatherings
  • Support Accenture Security client engagements including red teaming, adversarial simulation, and incident response where needed
  • Support Accenture Security business development and marketing initiatives
  • Minimum 25% travel, including domestic and international travel

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to apply knowledge of Resources-related security operations and industry operational cycles, to inform Accenture Security clientele and partners of risk outlooks through timely and effective reporting
  • Excellent English-language written, verbal and presentation communication skills especially for executive audiences
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in cyber threat or intelligence analysis, or in a related area
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in one of the above industries
  • Strong understanding of cyber security issues and computer network protocols and environments, perimeter defense, incident response, kill chain analysis, risk assessment, and security metrics
  • Strong analytic skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to grasp complex problems and explain them simplistically
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, and prior use of intelligence tools such as Maltego, Analyst’s Notebook, and Palantir
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Familiarity with computer network protocols, computer incident response procedures, system and log analysis, scripting, data mining, statistical analysis, data analytics, and personal interview techniques for information gathering
  • Experience conducting cyber threat analysis and/or risk assessments
  • Understanding of key actors, groups, and environments contributing to cyber threat and risk; and of the roles of government and industry in responding to cyber threat issues
  • Understanding of the criticality of various operational assets and the potential impact of those assets being compromised 
  • Operational planning and project management experience
  • Familiarity with corporate business operations, manufacturing and industrial processes, CISO responsibilities, cyber threat modeling approaches and practices, and risk management considerations
  • Interest and focus on customer service and quality
  • Flexibility to complete fast-suspense assignments
  • Experience in handling sensitive data with discretion
  • Familiarity with analytic concepts and biases, practices, and procedures
