The Publications and Document Research Team (DRT) Associate Manager oversees the daily operations of the technical writing and document research team activities, including developing and monitoring work guidance and performance measures to meet department and client expectations while providing excellent customer service. Position requires independent thinking, reporting and analysis, solid judgment, and a strong work ethic. Demonstrates willingness to collaborate and work as a team to meet established goals and metrics regarding publications and design images.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages the activities of the technical writing and document research teams
  • Manages team supervisors to complete varied and complex assignments involving provider notifications, bulletins, manuals, website management, and client materials
  • Contributes to specific proposal efforts and management level presentations
  • Oversees supervisor s management of personnel records, including new hire orientation, benefit administration, security administration, training arrangements, travel expense authorizations, salary and performance evaluations, terminations etc
  • Oversees the preparation of technical illustrations, design procedures, graphics, photography, and other printing
  • Ensures publications and design images meets mandated guidelines
  • Investigates and recommends implementation of new technology to meet changing needs
  • Oversees requests for bids, customer quotations, and purchase orders for vendors
  • Maintains budget forecasts, actuals, and reports on variances
  • Develops production standards and controls makes recommendations for improvements in overall production
  • Reviews existing publications for purpose of modifying, revising, and or rewriting and works with originators to determine timely, cost effective approaches
  • Collects and prepares reports or analyses necessary for contract billing and provides supporting documentation reporting to secure payment for services and other deliverables

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in one or more of the following: editing, design, or technical writing
  • Minimum of 4 years' operations experience (monitoring performance metrics, documenting workflow and processes)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in working in the healthcare industry
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a supervisor or team lead

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Advanced conflict resolution skills
  • Experience interacting with the healthcare provider community a plus
  • Customer Service experience
  • Ability to motivate and inspire a group of employees to achieve performance goals

  • Proven ability to build, manage and foster a team-oriented environment
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Desire to work in an information systems environment 
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
