Malware Reverse Engineer, iDefense/Accenture Security

Location: Arlington, VA (Rosslyn)

Job Description:

The Malware Reverse Engineer will reverse engineer the latest malware families, research malware distribution techniques such as exploit kits, phishing campaigns, and botnets. The Reverse Engineer will develop automation systems and tools such as malware sandbox, drivers, unpackers, decoders, and parsers. Conduct independent research, perform detailed in-depth malware analysis, analyze cyber threat data, create intelligence reports, and provide support to customer requests. The Reverse Engineer will analyze malicious events and malicious campaigns to determine attack vectors. Identify command and control infrastructure, evaluate the tools deployed in cyber-attacks as well as the tactics, techniques and procedures used by cyber-criminals for financial gain.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Computer Forensics, Science or Engineering, Information Systems or other relevant security field, or comparable experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in malware analysis and reverse engineering and development

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of malware analysis and reverse engineering.
  • Proven experience with IDA-Pro, Debuggers, and Network Traffic Analysis.
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting languages: Assembly x86/x64, C,
  • C++, Python,JavaScript, Java, PHP, and HTML
  • Proven ability to analyze and unpack obfuscated code
  • Deep understanding of operating system internals and Windows APIs

Professional Skill Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Team player who works well under pressure to rapidly generate highly accurate technical reports

  • Candidates must be self-starters, quick learners, and detail-oriented

  • Candidates must recognize and deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive information

Additional Skills:

  • Experience with computer forensics and malware analysis tools
    Knowledge of malware packers, obfuscation techniques
  • Experience in development of automation systems, tools, plugins and drivers
  • Familiarity with Snort and YARA signatures
  • Experience with incident response, network defense, and threat intelligence
  • Produce clearly written and concise research reports
