The Application Development Specialist develops and designs technologies that improve the way our clients and the world works. Supporting the core of Accenture's Technology business, they are eager to learn and use that curiosity to solve Technology problems through developing, designing, and configuring software products or systems that enable client strategies. They use their versatility and experience to design technology solutions that meet client requirements from analysis to implementation.
Job Description
Java Technology Platform professionals develop application using Java technology. The Java technology platform is a computing environment that allows for developing and executing applications for small and mobile devices (consumer and embedded systems), PC desktops and medium to large businesses. Senior java developers have an intimate knowledge to develop restful web applications with a strong sense of business needs and the scenarios that should be considered when making changes to complex systems.
 
A professional at this position level within Accenture has the following responsibilities:
 
  • Adapts existing methods and procedures to create possible alternative solutions to moderately complex problems.
  • Understands the strategic direction set by senior management as it relates to team goals.
  • Uses considerable judgment to determine solution and seeks guidance on complex problems.
  • Primary upward interaction is with direct supervisor. May interact with peers and/or management levels at a client and/or within Accenture.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments with guidance.
  • Decisions often impact the team in which they reside.
  • Manages small teams and/or work efforts (if in an individual contributor role) at a client or within Accenture.
Basic Qualifications:
  •  7 + years of experience in application development using Java/J2EE and Spring and Hibernate 
  •  7+ years of experience designing and building RESTful web services

Required Skills:
  •  Broad understanding of unit and integration testing as part of a full software development life cycle
  •  Knowledge of Object-oriented design and design pattern
            
Preferred Skills:
  • Microservices architecture: designing, creating, deploying, testing and monitoring
  • Understanding of security implications in application development
  • Experience working with DevOps
  • AWS or other cloud development and deployment
  • Has used other open source tools such as JUnit, Maven, Ant, Continuous Integration Tools (Hudson, Jenkins), etc.
