Job Description:


These positions are within our AT&A group. AT&A professionals work with application and technical architects to translate a business need into a robust and integrated technology solution. They are skilled in delivery approaches and methods, and the supporting development and run-time environments required to design, build and deploy custom application solutions for Accenture Federal Services clients. Specifically for this role, you will leverage your skills to implement these solutions on Java EE platforms.


Key responsibilities of the Java Developer may include:

  • Ownership of technical designs, code development, and component test execution to demonstrate adherence to the functional specification.
  • Using configuration management and integration/build automation tools to manage and deploy Java code.
  • Applying knowledge of common, relevant architecture frameworks in defining and evaluating application architectures.
  • Performing code reviews and providing critical suggestions for fixes and improvements.
  • Supporting issue analysis and fix activities during test phases, as well as production issue resolution.
  • Troubleshooting and performance tuning Java-based applications.
  • Developing and demonstrating a broad set of technology skills in Java technologies, Service Oriented Architecture concepts, Open Source libraries and frameworks, and technology architecture concepts.
  • Collaborating within a project team comprised of talented employees with diverse and complementary skills.
  • Leading a team of junior developers, including planning work activities and reviewing work products.

Basic Qualifications: 


  • 4 years of client-facing work experience developing Java
  • 4 years of experience developing using the core Spring framework
  • 4 years of work experience using Java development tools (e.g. Eclipse, JUnit, Subversion)
  • 2 years of experience with Java-based MVC frameworks (e.g. Spring MVC, Struts, JSF, Tapestry)
  • 2 years of experience with relational databases and SQL
  • 2 years of experience with ORM techniques and tools (e.g. Hibernate)
  • 1 year of leadership experience to include planning and directing the work of others and/or designing technology solutions implemented by others

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience with Java Application Servers (WebSphere or WebLogic) or Open Source Application Servers (i.e. JBoss)
  • Experience with other Spring frameworks (Integration, Batch, Security, etc.)
  • Experience with architecture design and design patterns
  • Experience with performance testing
  • Experience with databases, SQL, data modeling and performance tuning
  • Experience with rules engines, either COTS (e.g. Blaze or iLog) or open  source (e.g. Drools)
  • Experience with mobile (IOS, HTML5, Android) and responsive web development
  • Experience with Agile (SCRUM, Kanban), Standard SDLC, CMMI compliant projects
  • Experience with issue tracking software (JIRA, FoggBugz, BugZilla, TeamCity, Rational Suite)
  • Experience with source control management (SVN, GIT, Mercurial, CVS)
  • Previous consulting experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Technical Science
  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork and collaboration in a professional setting; either military or civilian
