Your Role

 

As a Financial Risk Analytics professional, you will support financial services firms from around the world in achieving their advanced platform, data and analytics goals. We have a breadth of analytics experience, global resources, best-in-class analytical tools and frameworks, superior assets and deep knowledge to help our clients become high-performing Financial Services businesses.

Our Finance & Risk Center of Excellence in NYC provides a unique environment where we bring together a unique combination of platform and data engineering capabilities along with our risk analytics capabilities to enable innovative solutions to be delivered in an agile delivery environment.  Our team members all provide some combination of these skills and the ideal candidates show a strong desire to develop skills across the board.

 

The ideal candidate has a combination of functional, data engineering and platform experiences.  Candidates are not required to have deep experience in all three areas.

 

Functional knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of functional design, data engineering, and/or platform engineering experience within the Financial Services industry (Retail Bank, Commercial Bank, Investment Bank, Insurance) or for a rating agency.
  • Minimum of 1 year of risk analytics, functional design, data engineering, and/or platform engineering experience, liquidity risk management, market risk management, stress testing, counterparty risk, VaR and exposure modeling, valuation of financial instruments/ portfolios, limit setting and watch list/exposure usage monitoring, AND/OR functional design and database modeling for risk management systems and applications.
  • Alternatively, 1 year of data management experience supporting risk analytics capabilities at a Financial Services institution especially in functionally designing solutions and analysis for metadata management, lineage and governance.

Platform Engineering Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience architecting and/or developing in Big Data (e.g. Hadoop) analytics environments for production deployments
  • Familiarity and experience in developing and implementing analytics frameworks in Python, Scala and/or Spark.
  • Minimum of 1 year designing and building large scale data loading, manipulation, processing, analysis, blending and exploration solutions using emerging technologies such as Hadoop Ecosystem (MapReduce, Hive, HBase, Spark, Sqoop, Flume, Pig, Kafka etc.), NoSQL(e.g. Cassandra, MongoDB), and In-Memory Data Technologies

Data Engineering Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in preparing and refining data sets and derived data in various emerging (Talend, Python, Scala and/or Spark) and traditional tools (Informatica, Ab Initio, SQL)
  • And/or minimum of 1 year of experience in optimizing data pipelines and derived/analytical workloads for distributed computing, storage and processor/network I/O.
  • Bachelor's Degree in one or more of the following quantitative disciplines: Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computing, Quantitative Finance or other Quantitative, Numerical or Computing discipline
  • Minimum 1 year of experience managing cross-functional teams, including proficiency in project management, resource management, and deliverable presentation/reviews

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

Advanced Degree in one or more of the following quantitative disciplines: Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computing, Quantitative Finance or other Quantitative, Numerical or Computing discipline

Deep functional knowledge

  • Strong understanding of financial instruments/ products or insurance products, consistent with industry experience; for example, individuals with Commercial Banking experience should have a thorough knowledge of commercial lending, asset based lending, treasury services and investment banking
  • Expert understanding of new/ evolving regulations in the Risk management space including treatment of off-balance sheet exposures, proprietary trading, systemic risk, stress testing, capital calculations, reporting standards, etc.
  • Strong understanding of risk regulatory framework of one more of the major economies across globe (i.e. US, UK, EU, etc.).
  • Strong Understanding of Front and Back Office operations a plus

Deep technical knowledge

  • Deep understanding of the data and platform tools and frameworks for data science and data engineering in parallel computing environments.
  • Experience with industry tools and frameworks popular in the data management environments at Financial Services firms such as Colibra, FICO, SAS, Informatica, Ab Initio, etc.
  • Experience in extracting, aggregating and structuring large data sets along different dimensions (e.g.: position/ instrument/ counterparty level)
  • Managing and Modeling data in various storage architecture in Hadoop and NoSQL data stores (e.g. parquet)
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high energy, demanding and team-oriented environment
  • Proven ability to build, manage and foster a team-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
