The Cyber Security Engineering Specialist - Level 1 provides feedback to design engineers and evaluates end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Conducts research and evaluates technical performance of software products and overall segments and systems. Ensures products and systems comply with requirements and government information assurance and cyber security standards and practices through formal verification methods. Verifies/validates systems with specific emphasis on network operations and cyber warfare tactics, techniques, and procedures focused on the threat to information networks. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Prepares assessments and cyber threat profiles of current and planned products based on sophisticated testing, research, and analysis. Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they verify/validate the requirements. Develops and maintains analytical procedures to meet changing requirements. Produces high-quality papers, presentations, recommendations, and findings for senior US government intelligence and operations officials.


The Cyber Security Engineering Specialist (CSES) - Level 1 is responsible for the design, build, security accreditation, and deployment of Cyber Security solutions. The CSES - Junior works closely with the customer's security staff and IT service providers to install and configure cyber security products to defend, monitor, and alert the Cyber Security Operations Cell and other key security personnel. The candidate will design and implement customized solutions to meet specific customer goals and develop enhancements to the existing suite of cyber security tools.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Cyber Security Management, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Math, Business or other related field, or 4 or more years of recent experience in cyber security engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Hands on recent use and knowledge of specific products and related technologies:

  • Exposure to DoD analysis experience.
  • Experience or understanding of IT systems infrastructure.
  • Experience with patch management processes and tools.
  • Experience with process development and deployment.
  • Experience working in a security watch desk environment.
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, routers, or antivirus appliances a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with cyber security tools such as ArcSight, Nessus, McAfee Endpoint Security, and FireEye.
  • Hands-on experience with data correlation and analytics tools such as Apache Spark, Splunk, QLik, Tableau, or other business intelligence tool.
  • Minimum 2 years experience or certification in Unix, Solaris, Linux, or Windows servers.
  • Scripting using bash, Chef, Puppet, or Windows PowerShell.

An active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required for this role.
