The day has finally arrived—the start of AWS re:Invent 2020. Of course, like many things in 2020, it will be a different experience for everyone. We will be experiencing re:Invent from our home offices. But just think: No waiting in line. No fighting for boxed lunches. No crowded hallways. No long walks to the next venue under a hot sun.
Seriously, though: the main message I want to convey to you here is that, although re:Invent will feel different and look different, in fact, much will be the same. It will include all of the things we’ve come to expect … and more. You’ll still get wowed by announcements of new AWS capabilities and innovation. You're still going to get Andy Jassy’s one-of-a-kind keynote (and other important keynotes) with plenty of insights into where things are going in the world of public cloud.
Instead of spending just a few days at an on-site conference, you’ll have three weeks’ worth of super-deep content—lots of opportunities to gain insights from AWS, as well as what their customers are doing. You're going to have CEOs on stage talking about the exciting work they're overseeing and how AWS is driving their transformation. You’ll see many partners showing off what they’ve built and gain insights into their technology, offerings and new ways of doing things. All these sessions will be available at first in a real-time experience, but then made available anytime, anywhere during the duration of the event.

“The timing of re:Invent this year is great, given Cloud First’s mission to accelerate customers to 80% in the cloud over five years.”

And you’ll see some of the same fun things, too, such as the 3rd Annual DeepRacer League Championship, where competitors will race their virtual AWS-enabled, autonomous, machine learning-based race cars which they developed and trained all year long. The “Grand Prix Finale” is scheduled for Dec. 15. Speaking of cars and cool solutions; Accenture we’ll be talking about the electric vehicle roaming platform we developed with the AWS Connected Vehicle Solution. Check out “Alexa, charge my car! Test drive the Accenture EV roaming platform” session on Dec 2, 10:30 AM PST.
Accenture at re:Invent
Once again, we are a Platinum sponsor for re:Invent, and the exclusive sponsor of the Executive Summit, an invitation-only gathering of executive-level global cloud leaders. Being able to interact with the brightest minds in cloud is one of the pleasures of this conference every year.
Our own learning sessions will focus on many of the most important themes of the conference. I’m especially excited about our joint speaking session with Takeda Pharmaceuticals—"Security-led transformation with Takeda and Accenture” (Dec 2, 8:45AM PST.) This is much more than a pure migration story. You will hear how Accenture and AWS are working with Takeda to reimagine and transform their organization to become a cloud-first business.
We are also giving attendees an opportunity to learn about our great Amazon Connect work. For example, in “Responsive customer service in times of change,” we’ll share how digital innovation and resiliency went hand-in-hand as we helped clients enable a remote workforce, rethink contact center operations, and reimagine customer experiences with Amazon Connect. We’re also presenting “Delivering professional services in a Covid-19 world” (Dec. 3, 11:45 AM PST) on how our Amazon Connect solutions are rapidly enabling remote working for the vast majority of a company’s global workforce, while also executing their business continuity plans.
Cloud First: Ready to realize
For Accenture, this is one of the first major events to take place since the exciting rollout of Accenture Cloud First— a new group of 70,000 cloud professionals (backed by a $3 billion investment) that brings together the full power and breadth of Accenture’s industry and technology capabilities, ecosystem partnerships, and deep commitment to learning and upskilling clients’ employees and to responsible business (e.g., “green cloud”), with the singular focus of enabling organizations to move to the cloud with greater speed and achieve greater value for all their stakeholders at this critical time. The timing of re:Invent this year is great, given Cloud First’s mission to accelerate customers to 80% in the cloud over five years.
