Who doesn’t want to be successful, fulfilled and appreciated – in work and in life? In today’s “always on” digital world, you should not have to trade personal success for professional success. Having it all, though, is never easy. Not all companies are created equal, and life can be full of surprises.
There are, however, some companies that are truly exceptional—they improve the way the world works and lives. And they have qualities and values that make them stand above others.
So, what makes a company a great place to work? What qualities do you look for when considering an employer? Do you want to...
- collaborate on exciting and innovative projects;
- learn, grow and develop new skills;
- partner with super smart people;
- give back to communities;
- combine your passions with your profession;
- be free to be your true, authentic self;
- all the above?
If you’ve checked “all the above,” you’ll understand why Accenture was named by FORTUNE magazine as one of ‘The Best 100 Companies to Work For’. In fact, we’ve been on the list for 10 consecutive years.
But why not hear directly from someone who really knows? Meet Catherine Collins—a 40-year Accenture veteran, who explains why she thinks Accenture is a great place to work.
From her start fresh out of college to her role as managing director working in the Health and Public Service practice, she shares the secret to her longevity and success.
“Be sure to continue to learn, investigate, research and take advantage of opportunities,” says Catherine. “The path in our careers is not always direct from point A to point B. The advantage we have at Accenture is that we are a very large firm with plenty of opportunities to craft our own unique path.”
While Catherine credits ample opportunities available in a large firm like Accenture, she explains that it’s the smart, motivated people she’s worked with along the way that have really been the driver behind her career success. “Good people are at the heart of Accenture.”
Catherine is one of the more than 435,000 people at Accenture, and her story is not unique. In a company that works across 40 industries, serving clients in 120 countries, there is massive opportunity to learn, grow and advance your career.
Catherine offers this piece of advice: “The days are long, but the years are short. They go by very quickly. Take advantage of them; enjoy them. Enjoy the journey. I know that I have.”
