Skills to Succeed helps level the playing field
By: Accenture Recruitment

Plan a career. Find a job. Keep a job. Three steps that can be daunting for those who don’t have the skills necessary to thrive in the new digital world. Accenture’s Skills to Succeed initiative is changing that situation, and doors are opening for people all over the world.

Meet Natali Santana from Brazil. Natali and her wife struggled to find work when they moved to Recife, Brazil. But their lives changed forever when they discovered Accenture in the Future, a Rede Cidadã and Instituto Ser Mais that provides low-income individuals with business and technical training—and the opportunity to work for Accenture. Since the program’s inception, hundreds of Accenture volunteers have donated their time to serve as mentors to students of this program.

Through this program, Natali gained access to the business and technical skills she needed to start a new career. She and her wife now both work for Accenture, and here, she is working towards her dream of getting her IT management degree, taking English classes and growing her career with Accenture.

Natali’s favorite part of her Accenture career is the inclusive culture, which allows her to be her authentic self at work. “Every time I was trying to get a job, I dressed ‘like a typical girl’ to get it,” she said. “I now feel comfortable enough to dress as I wish.”

Natali’s journey is just one story of empowerment that demonstrates the passion, energy and dedication of Accenture people.

Accenture’s Corporate Citizenship Report “Making a Difference” outlines the company’s commitment to a more inclusive and sustainable world.

Highlights from the report include how Accenture is:

  • Setting a goal to reach 40 percent women new hires by 2017—and achieving it a year early. Accenture’s global workforce now includes 150,000+ women.

  • Ensuring a brighter future for our planet. Accenture met its goal to improve energy efficiency by 30 percent, and aims to reduce per-employee carbon emissions by 50 percent by 2020.

  • Delivering transformational outcomes for clients.

  • Changing lives around the world through Skills to Succeed—more than 1.7 million to date.
