Digital technology and innovation are two of my passions.
Combining them to make a greater good through my work at Accenture is life changing—not just for me, but for disadvantaged youth we are helping visualize potential career paths through an extended reality (XR) experience.
Introducing BecaXR— Better Careers Through Extended Reality.
Together with nonprofit Save the Children, an Accenture Skills to Succeed partner, I had the opportunity to work directly with young people in Vietnam, developing and testing BecaXR. This immersive augmented reality/virtual reality mobile phone application helps young job seekers who have limited knowledge about the requirements of jobs in their local market.
Helping youth envision new careers
BecaXR is a 360-degree mobile experience with an augmented reality avatar who greets users with options for several immersive, virtual-reality experiences that provide vital skills needed in typical workplace environments, such as:
- Gaining public speaking skills in front of an audience.
- Taking part in a mock interview.
- Exploring a career in the retail or hospitality sectors.
The app helps users practice key communication skills and build confidence through life-like virtual reality simulations, giving them employability skills needed to find careers. The experience also provides real-time feedback on speech performance such as pace and eye contact. BecaXR is designed for use during training in vocational schools, community centers and workplaces.
BecaXR is now in pilot in Vietnam, with a goal to expand it to additional countries, offering career counseling, job linkage and information on vocational career paths.
