The most successful businesses turn constant disruption into continuous reinvention.
The most successful people use continuous reinvention to transform their careers.
"Pivot to the Future: Discovering Value and Creating Growth in a Disrupted World", tells the story of Accenture’s reinvention, including a focus on continuous learning and development to prepare its people to work in a world where employees and technology will consistently need to learn to work together in new ways.
Real stories of reinvention
Based on actual Accenture client work and case studies, the book showcases how the world’s leading companies across all industries are reinventing themselves across all stages of the business life cycle: the old, the now and the new.
But it’s not just about the way companies do business.
Pivoting to the future is all about successfully pivoting businesses’ most vital resource to the future: their people.
Our own “people pivot” to the future
When Accenture faced disruption of our core consulting business in 2014, we embarked on a massive reskilling of our entire workforce as part of our own strategic pivot to a “digital-first” future.
Our leaders knew that pivoting to the new would mean retraining and redeploying our people for a sometimes vaguely defined future, prepared to work alongside and develop strategies based on intelligent technologies, like artificial intelligence.
By investing approximately a billion dollars in employee education every year since 2015, we make sure our people have the skills they need to serve current and future clients, able to compete head-on with competitors old and new—in a coordinated effort across a global footprint.
Living the pivot with will.i.am
Accenture isn’t the only one focused on a pivot to the New. In our new “Pivot to the Future” podcast series, co-hosts Omar Abbosh, Accenture Chief Executive of Communications, Media & Technology and will.i.am, musician, philanthropist and technology investor chat with global leaders who share their stories of continual reinvention.
In episode 1, Omar and will.i.am reflect on their own personal pivots. will.i.am opens up about transforming The Black Eyed Peas and its business model as well as his biggest pivot: becoming a tech entrepreneur, with investments ranging from imaging technology to artificial intelligence.
Omar talks about how his work with top companies led to the insights behind the “Pivot to the Future” book, and how he’s applied those insights both in his work with Accenture and in his personal life. They also discuss the “wise pivot”—making calculated moves that really pay off.
Help the world’s leading organizations—and your career—pivot to the future.
