See How Innovation Can Help You Cruise the High Seas Your Way

Are you one of the millions of people planning to take a cruise this year?

If you’re onboard Carnival’s MedallionClass™ ships from Princess Cruises, prepare for an all-new, innovative, hyper-personal experience.

The cruise experience—transformed
With Accenture as its innovation partner, Carnival Corporation implemented the Ocean® integrated guest experience platform, complete with a secure Experience Internet of Things™ (xIoT™) network and streaming analytics.

With a free OceanMedallion™ wearable device, guests are instantly connected to an ecosystem of services and experiences. The Medallion allows guests to seamlessly find their next location and easily locate friends and family onboard, and the ship’s crew can easily find and serve them as they move about the ship.

By putting guests at the center and adapting everything around their dynamic needs and wants, MedallionClass™ is positioning Carnival Corp. to operate like a Living Business—constantly learning, adapting and evolving along with customer desires.

Meet the Accenture team

Sean Hyland, Digital Technical Architect, Principal Director

My role: I lead the Accenture team in formulating strategic approaches to address key functional needs identified by Carnival Corporation, evaluating potential market solutions and recommending a path aligned with their strategic vision of transforming the guest experience.

My work extends across all aspects of digital delivery, ranging from interactive design to issue and risk mitigation, through the operational delivery of the solution.

Career advice: Always remember that your career and your happiness are in your hands.

Christopher Khavarian, Management Consulting Senior Manager

My role: I’m the Functional Architect and Delivery Lead for Accenture’s work with Carnival Corporation, working side-by-side with their execs and crew to improve the guest experience. No two days are the same. I could wake up at home, in Miami, or in the middle of the ocean (and sometimes in Bratislava or Bangalore with our development teams).

We come in early, digest the vision and then partner with the client at every stage—from concept to implementation.

Career advice: Instead of focusing on just one area of the business, a breadth of experiences allows you to better interface with clients and people from diverse backgrounds and on a variety of projects.

Rajeesh Rajagopalan, Digital Business Integration Senior Manager

My role: As the Delivery Lead for Carnival’s MedallionClass™ initiative, my responsibility was the development of the user experience. My great team and I worked on the cool mobile apps, websites and backend services needed to keep the wheels turning.

The project has been an amalgamation of the latest in technology. Cross-platform tools and technologies were used to support development of the user experience and the latest artificial intelligence tools were used to personalize the guest experience.

Career advice: Cherish the good experiences and learn from the failures, and always stay connected to your team.

Caitlyn Tufts, Business and Integration Architect, Associate Manager

My role: I supported mobile and web application development for the Carnival MedallionClass™ initiative. I worked closely with the client to understand their business needs and guide the development of intuitive technology solution, where guests can access features of their upcoming cruise and provide personal preferences.

Simply put, we work with the clients from start to finish, taking something that was just an idea all the way to implementation.

Career advice: If IT is your area of interest, explore different opportunities. There are so many different roles within the tech space that allow you to not only contribute to the project, but literally transform an entire industry.

Scott Mathis, Management Consultant

My role: I’m part of the Consulting Management team responsible for the development of the MedallionClassTM experience. I worked with the client to define the overall strategy and then partner with our teams around the world to develop the features. From creative design teams that define the user experience to developers, scrum masters and testers that bring the designs to life. Simply put, we work with the clients from start to finish, taking something that was just an idea all the way to implementation.

Career advice: focus on your people skills, be optimistic and get outside of your comfort zone.

Ready to transform the way the world works, lives and plays with the work you do every day? Find your fit with our Applied Intelligence team.
