Getting the Right Support at Work
By: Accenture Recruitment

When she was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in 2014, Accenture Senior Manager Linda Dughetti was shocked. As you can imagine, many questions ran through her mind. “Is this going to kill me? “What about my dreams and plans?” One question that didn’t take long to be answered, however, was how those at work would respond to the news.

After sharing the diagnosis with her manager, she received not only emotional support and counselling, but also a quick connection to other people within Accenture who could offer practical support, such as information on insurance and medical leave. According to Linda, the ability to take as much time as she needed for medical treatment, without having to worry about her job, was invaluable.

Keeping a positive outlook, having workplace support and remaining resilient are some of the things Linda feels helped her beat cancer and continue to blaze trails in her career.
