After building my career in the cloud, I'm proud to now be helping other women do the same.
I started my career at Accenture in 2012, straight out of college. I had the privilege of working alongside brilliant team members who taught me not only how to improve my professional skills, but also introduced me to leading-edge technologies.
I began by learning about how data centers worked, and then moved to learning about the automated deployment of applications on servers. After my first two years, I joined the IES Amazon team, where I furthered my technical skills and became Amazon Web Services (AWS) certified.
My role at Accenture enables me to travel all over the U.S., working with the world’s leading companies to migrate their servers into AWS. I’ve expanded my role in the Accenture AWS Business group to an Operations Lead for the North America IES Amazon domain.
My day-to-day work involves ensuring the 100 people or so on our team are engaged and enabled to do their jobs. We recently worked on an exciting project, migrating servers from a client’s data center to the AWS Cloud. I gained end-to-end project experience and got to work alongside—and learn from—some of the best minds in the industry.
It was rewarding to see the results of our hard work, and I grew professionally as well. I got hands-on experience with the latest technologies and had the chance to truly learn about building client relationships.
I’m now part of an AWS Women in Cloud initiative. We’re working to help train other women at Accenture, as well as young women in the community, to help them achieve their goals of working in the field of technology.
Our Women in Cloud team is comprised of AWS architects, marketing and training team members and recruiters who create training and certification opportunities internally and in our surrounding community. We also plan events with organizations like Girls Who Code to help introduce the young women to the world of technology and AWS.
No two days at Accenture are alike for me. My tasks range from onboarding new joiners to working with our counterparts at AWS to ensure the team has the latest and greatest information. I also work with the training team to ensure that the team gets trained and certified as needed.
I truly feel that the work I do each day makes a difference to my team.
Working at Accenture allows me to learn new technical skills and work with the latest technologies, but the best thing about Accenture is the people. No matter how challenging my days might be, there is always a team member that will be willing to offer assistance—while making me laugh—through that challenge. I consider my AWS team my work family.
