If you’ve ever used technology like Face ID to access your bank account, people like me and my team are working hard behind the scenes to make sure your data is safe.
I work in Accenture’s Technology Advisory practice, in Financial Services and Cybersecurity.
Where I work, in our London offices, and at our Accenture Innovation Centers like The Dock in Dublin, we’re innovating for the future every day.
Getting hands-on with cutting-edge technology while I working with the best and brightest in the industry—what could be more exciting?
Three things I love about my consulting career:
1. One company, many technologies
We’re no one-tech wonder. The variety of opportunities in our Accenture pipeline is huge. We get to work in cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain and so much more.
The best thing about Accenture is definitely the people. Our U.K. Technology Advisory community is relatively small, so we all know each other and there’s a very strong sense of community.
I get to work with teams from across every function and all over the world. If I need help with something, I have hundreds of thousands of brains to pick for ideas.
There is a huge commitment to continuous learning and professional development at Accenture. It helps us lead our clients and grow our careers into the New.
Right now, my team is collaborating with a financial institution at the early stages of its cloud journey. Sometimes we get asked to help solve problems on mature projects, but this time we’re in on the ground floor. I know we’ll learn a lot.
My advice for growing a consulting career
Joining a big company like Accenture may seem a bit intimidating at first. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
Take time to grow and expand your network—and find your niche. When you do, don’t be shy about it.
Remember, your skills are important. Go after the career you want. Someday, someone else may ask you for help.
