Sanjay’s primary research interest is in 'Technology for Good' exploring accessibility solutions, addressing gender inequality and building solutions for the bottom of the pyramid. He is a mentor to ASHOKA Fellows and Nasscom Social Innovation Forum Winners. He is accelerating social transformation with innovative use of AI, Blockchain, IoT and other exponential technologies.
When Sanjay Podder started his career at Accenture 15 years ago, he never imagined his work would have the power to feed children and save lives. But through his efforts leading Accenture Labs in Bangalore, India, he is doing just that.
As one of Accenture’s leading technology innovators, Sanjay has led ‘Tech4Good’ projects to new levels, applying the latest disruptive technologies in unique ways to help solve critical challenges faced by business and society. Through the use of artificial intelligence (AI), Blockchain, internet of things (IoT) and other exponential technologies, he is accelerating social transformation, exploring accessibility solutions, addressing gender inequality and building solutions for low-income communities.
Some of Sanjay’s recent successful projects include ‘Drishti’, an accessibility solution designed with National Association for the Blind in India that augments blind professionals with deeper information about their surroundings; 'Million Meals Pilot', designed with the Akshaya Patra Foundation to feed a million more meals to poor children in India; ‘Internet of Birds’, a convolutional neural network-based citizen science platform (machine learning image recognition) in collaboration with the Bombay Natural History Society to recognize birds of Indian subcontinent and increase awareness of Biodiversity. His team also developed a remote patient monitoring solution, which is saving lives by giving medical access to low-income people. Each of these solutions leveraged the combinatorial power of AI, IoT, Blockchain combined with human-centric design for social good.
In recognition of these and other transformational projects, Sanjay has been selected as an Eisenhower Fellow, where he will embark on a six-week program in the U.S., joining 20 other leaders from business, government and society to conduct research related to scaling the impact of how technology can be used to solve complex social problems.
