Career Advice and Reflections to Student Recruits

As I look out across the audience of a dozen eager, nervous students at a recent Accenture campus information session, I am once again reminded of what it feels like to not yet know what your life might look like in a year.

The anxiety in stepping beyond the four walls of a university can be stressful but also exciting. The possibilities are endless, but the process can be arduous.

My career journey—and progression
It’s hard to believe that I went from one of those faces in the audience to speaking to student recruits today.

In just the last few years, I’ve truly paved my own career path. I’ve worked across a wide range of industries and functions. I’ve been on the cutting edge of innovation and bold ideas. And I’ve partnered with a variety of clients to grow their business and solve interesting and complex problems.

I’ve also followed my passions in developing a network of women in business. Diversity and inclusion are at the core of Accenture’s values and business practices, and I’ve helped grow an initiative from the ground up that strives to empower, support and equip women as leaders. I’m committed to developing resources to address pain points and cultivating forums in which women’s voices are sufficiently heard and validated.

Mentors, friends and champions
Most importantly, I found community. My coworkers are my friends—working with someone day in and day out can do that to you!

Within Accenture’s mentoring culture, I found tightknit friendships but also a community of champions in my corner. I have strong mentors across levels, including access to senior leadership. People development is ingrained in how teams are structured and run. The people are what makes Accenture really special.

My advice to recruits
Bring your authentic self to events and interviews. You’ll bring that back to work in a year, and that’s how you’ll know you’ve found the best fit.

I once thought that graduating from college was when the most limitless opportunities were ahead. But after the last three years at Accenture, I know that the world is still my oyster. I have access to an entire platform to continue building my career.
